Super Supernova
Feb 2020
If you have any interest at all in your place in space this is a really really good tour of life, the universe and everything. I thought it would suit all ages and levels of knowledge. Plenty for everyone. I recommend doing it in the order it is laid out. When you start you find yourself walking on a large scale map from Munich to the Supernova Centre in Garching; then on to space travel, the solar system, our galaxy, the stars, the universe. How did it all start, how did life start, is life elsewhere possible, does the universe go on for ever, how do massive telescopes work, what do we use them for and why, what is dark matter and dark energy. Not to be missed. Go.

Super afternoon
Sep 2018 • Family
We spent the afternoon today in the supernova. Saw the Limbradur Show and took a walk in the exhibition. You really need more time to see everything. Pretty amazing what they do there and all for free!!! We will definitely come back again.

Scientific Must-see
Aug 2018 • Family
Even if you only have a passing interest in astronomy, astrophysics or space exploration you simply cannot miss this place!
Everything is in English and German and over 90% of the exhibits are interactive. The Planetarium show was fantastic and highly informative.
The staff cannot be commended too highly for the effort that they've put in to establish a world class facility.
Highly recommended. 👍👍👍👍👍

This is a great place to visit. Displays are in English and German. This facility is very clean. I would suggest wearing good walking shoes as the shape of the facility is a figure 8, with slightly elevated ramps, there are elevators available. There are 2 short video showings, be sure to check your language, one is on English the other is in German, translators are available at front desk.

Good exhibits in a modern setup
Jun 2018 • Couples
This new museum dedicated to astronomy is well designed in a modern architecture. Good exhibits about science and technology related to observing the Universe, and a planetarium with multiple shows. Easy to reach by subway 35min from downtown Munich.

Awesome visit

Had a fantastic visit today, spent about three hours here including the tour. Lots of fantastic information in the supanova both interactive and on boards to read. Had an amazing architect tour with Calum (fellow Scot) who gave us lots of information not only about the building but about he science happening there. He is clearly passionate about the work of eco and the work they are doing. Could not commend his enthusiasm enough. Cannot wait for my next visit.

Phenomenal

The museum provides clear and comprehensive explanation of astronomy and the galaxy.
The illustrations which include virtual reality contribute to the experience.
The planetarium has to be booked in advance.
We spent there 4 hours and still didn't cover all of the place.
The staff was friendly and informative.
I was surprised that everything was for free!
Highly recommended

Outstanding planetarium
Apr 2018 • Solo
The brand new ESO Supernova planetarium is a must if you are interested in astronomy. The 255 meter spiral walkway takes you through various topics of the universe and solar system - with interactive elements and VR experiences to go with it.

Another great reason to go is the architecture. It resembles a double star system with one star feeding mass to the other. Which inevitably will result in a supernova. Stunning.
