This is the castle of the parents of King Ludwig II just down the mountain from Schloss Neuschwanstein. Another majestic and beautiful castle with breathtaking views.

This was great. The walk up and through the wood and through the Arches was brilliant. Our tour guide was witty and I enjoyed that. Very informative. A must do experience.

The castle is amazing !! We chose to walk and did not regret it for a moment. Walking is a bit difficult for those who are not used to walking but amazing views

The tour of the interior of the castle is brief but interesting and the artifacts inside worth a look. The grounds of the castle are very attractive with gardens, statuary and fountains. If you visit the more popular Neuschwanstein, you should take advantage of the...More

I toured this castle along with Neuschwanstein. Touring both takes about a half day. Order your tickets online to save yourself over an hour waiting in line for tickets. We walked right in and picked ours up in 10 min. But the other line was...More

We bought tickets in advance and visited both the Hohenschwangau and the Neuschwnanstein castles. You need to arrive one hour before your reserved tour time to pick up your tickets. You can just show up and buy tickets but there is no telling how long...More

If you are visiting in border (south Bavaria) near Alps, Germany / Austria, this is one of "must see objects". Even it has more popular castle (Neuschwanstein) in it' neigborhood, this is so close & can be visited during the same trip( same day). Only...More

It is a wonderful castle and looking at the historical background I recommend to combine the visit with Neuschwanstain - the Fairy Tale Castle - nearby. It perfectly prepares you for the Fairy Tale World you enter when you visit Neuschwanstein right after.

Just like for the Neuschwanstein castle, I wish the visit was longer but overall, great experience. Nice staff and beautiful castle and surroundings. To be done as a combo with the other castle and museum to fully understand the history there.

Beautiful small castle with great view. Although it is less impressive than neuschwanstein, the tour is far more interesting and well explained. This one was inhabited by the royal family and used as a summer house whereas the other castle was not even completed. I...More

The interiors of the castles are NOT stroller friendly. It is possible to take a stroller on some of the paths to the castles; other paths have stairs. You can definitely do both castles the same day; the ticket office in... More
