Over the course of my life, I have visited different parts of Germany, never making a stop to Hohenschwangau. It's too crowded. There are too many tourists. Then my son asked about the Swan King and wanted to see his castle. This was a trip for him as much as a trip for me. We were impressed by both the... More

In a Fairy tale setting, this castle is less than 2 hours from Munich and surrounded by Lush Green. We climbed our way up and down and did not take the bus or the horse carriage. The hike was very enjoyable.

If you are in München, go there! It is well worth the hours on the road! If you don't have a car, near the train station you can book a one day bus trip which includes 2 castles!

You can buy your tickets 48hrs before online & get there as early as possible. This is a must!!! We booked on Wednesday for Friday, arrived at 8am bleary eyed. There was already a long queue at the ticket office & the earliest tour available for that day was already 14.00. We went in the fast track queue with our... More

I visited Neuschwanstein in December 2015 on a cold and foggy day. My biggest complaint probably involved the weather to a great extent. Yes, the castle is beautiful, but in bad weather there isn't much opportunity for photos. There was nowhere to go to sit and escape the weather. Sure, there are many shops and restaurants, but since the tour... More

Yes, it is a beautiful castle, BUT as people all over the world have hyped it up, its not worth paying to go inside. It is a trek uphill (bus and horse carriage available for a fee) and when you reach the top the castle is stunning. We paid for the inside tour and were disappointed in the wait and... More

Been to many European castles, this one is definitely not worth to go, Edinburgh castle is miles better than it. Don't waste your time!

Amazing place to visit, but if you chose to go up on foot it's a huge exercise! Be prepared to take a hike! There is transport by carriage but take time in line... But it worth it! Each angle from the tour you see a hole different amazing view! Marvelous

Incredible and breathtaking. Do the tour, it's short but sweet but well worth it. Just remember to book your tickets in the village down below before you takle the mountain! Take a trip to the bridge, you'll get an amazing view of the castle.
