We popped into the museum whilst visiting Erlangen. I can honestly say that this is one of the best museums I have visited. It is well maintained and informative. It took about 2 hours to see everything. I thoroughly enjoyed the visit.

This is a well-done city museum, very informative and nicely displayed. It is free entrance to visitors, and a pleasant way to learn about the town and surrounding area from the basement (early history) to the upper floors (industrial to modern). A couple of exhibits are under construction and I look forward to seeing them when we return. Thank you!…

Don't forget to visit the Christmas market this period right behind the museum as well as old town church
This is new Christmas market except for the traditional one being located at downtown. Should come and enjoy the festive spirit by taking advantage to visit this museum as well as the Old town church next door.

I never expected when I came to Erlangen that it had such a remarkable history. The museum itself is an exhibit with excavations in the cellar!

Nothing was translated, so you have to know German or have a friend who will translate for you. It tells the story of the city very well, you find the whole history documented in this museum. For such a small city the museum is rather big, so there are plenty small details mentioned too. …
