In the winter the ice formations are out of disney land, in the summer there is a spiritual energy here that is palpable, climb up, or take the cable car up and walk to the restaurant further on, great goulash and snitzel.

We took a night tour of the Partnach Gorge just after Christmas. Unfortunately it was about 48 degrees out the night of the tour so all we really got to see was a few really big chunks of ice. As this was a torch carrying tour, it was difficult to see ANYTHING at night. Also, the torch wax ruined my... More

The gorge is amazing in the wintertime with all these enormous icicles hanging down from the rocks. There are tunnels through the rock and the trail was well cleared and there´s a parapet all the way. Several restaurants are on both sides of the gorge you can do one way with a really small cablecar. A nice place is the... More

I have wanted to go here for years but always went skiing instead. The conditions for skiing this time were less than optimal so we decided to give it a try. We had sooooo much fun. I thought it would be a little stroll for 15 minutes or so. I was mistaken. We were there for an hour walking one... More

This canyon is pretty amazing and a little bit unexpected. We walked via the Eckbauer up and then went through the canyon from the back. Be very careful, since the canyon closes down at certain times (after 6pm normally, but check their website!). The winter hike was amazing with frozen waterfalls! By the way hiking up the Eckbauer is also... More

The Partnachklamm is place you can always visit, no matter the weather conditions (except it is closed). Especially in winter when it snowed and the gorge is partly frozen.

We went to visit in late December and we were incredibly fortunate to see the waterfalls frozen! It is a gorgeous walk up to the gorge (about 20 minutes). The gorge itself is just full of waterfalls frozen as they fell and when the sun hits, it is breathtaking. Once you've reached the end you walk into a valley which,... More

Certainly pretty but not out of the ordinary. Also if there are a lot of people you get stuck in a bit of a "line" to get through.

The best sight in Garmisch! It's about a 25 min walk to the gorge and then 20 minutes one way in the gorge. Not steep, easy walk, small caves, truly beautiful!!

We hiked the gorge and it was a wonderful experience. The views are amazing and the setting spectacular. Walk up from the Olympic stadium to enjoy the gradual climb and scenery.
