Take the Eckbauerbahn ( 2 person gondolas), built in 1934 for the 1936 Winter Olympics. 7.5 Euros one way. Great restaurant at the top of the mountain. Pick up a trail map at the information center outside the stadium and hike the trails. Beautiful, gorgeous scenery. Easy trails for families too. A few other restaurants on the trails themselves. Lots... More

The views are breathtaking. Depart from the Garmisch Olympic stadium. When you get to the top, follow the sign to descend through the Partnachklamm, pick another route down, or just go back the way you came. The Partnachklamm is by far the best option, although there are a few short stretches which are steep and can be slippery.

As someone who used to live in Munich this became an old favourite for summer weekends. So naturally I had to take my friends up it when we passed through Munich on our travels. The gondolas each take 2 people and at a price of €7.50 one way for students it's a bargain. You can then pick one of several... More

This is one of the stops to make in the Stadium area. You can ride up, down, or both (Berg and Tal [mountain and valley]); your choice. We rode both and stopped at the little guest house at the top for drinks. The scenery is fantastic with great views of the stadium and city while on the bottom half of... More

This is a fun way to spend an afternoon. You can take the gondola up for about 14Euros round trip (less for teens and under) OR you can hike up and bring the car back. Once on top, there are some fabulous views and a place to have beer and food. Well worth eating on top!! You can also just... More

We loved going up on the cable car (car is for two people). The view is gorgeous. The best part is having food and drink at Eckbauer restaurant. The best Schnitzel was found there. The prices were very reasonable. We had lots of snow and lots of sunshine. Recommend it highly.

For a perfect way to enjoy the beauty of the Bavarian Alps, take the Eckbauerbahn cable car up the mountain, then hike down the back of the mountain and circle back to town via the Partnach Gorge. Along the way you will see amazing vistas, beautiful alpine meadows, and the breathtaking Partnach Gorge. Allow 4-5 hours and wear comfortable hiking... More

We hiked up with our two young children - one in the bjorn, and one our back. The hike is on a road, but it is pretty steep most of the way. It was a beautiful sunny day when we went, but there were wet leaves from the previous evening, and it made it a bit slippery. So make sure... More

Ekbauer is a lovely way to pass the day - pick a nice day and walk up and stroll down or take the cable up, have some lunch and enjoy the scenery and walks on the top and then walk down . Stop along the way to see the Alpine cows ! Really pretty place. Takes about 2-3 hours to... More
