There is a gondola cable-car to the top of this mountain. There is a nice walk around the summit, which is easy and gives good views in all directions. There are a couple of places to eat and/or drink at the summit.
Came to visit here recently on a trip to Bavaria, as Zugspitze was out of the question true to some of our travellers needs.
The cable cars were smaller than I expected but easy to access.

A beautiful if rather steep walk up the mountain! You will need to head east from the train station from where there are signposts. A warning that the cable car stops at 5 so don't get stranded at the top like we almost did!
Cows...cows everywhere with cow bells clanking...in the mountains, on the trails, in the meadows!!! So relaxing to hear cow bells all over the place while hiking!!! Sat and just listened for hours! Friendly cows, thinking they were dogs trying to cuddle. Took us 2 hours...More
A quieter and less expensive alternative to the Zugspitze. Lovely paths at the top with great views. Quiet enough to escape the crowds and have a 'private' ride in your own car. And of course lots of childish photo opportunities if you're British !!

You get to enjoy an amazing view over the alps and Garmisch Partenkirchen. Once on top you can relax at a Café or simply enjoy the view during a nice walk. You can reach the top either by hiking or gondola. Well woth a visit..
We walked from the Sankt Anton church in Garmisch to the Almgastof Esterberg. It is a steep and seemed a long walk but the views from the alm of Zugspitz and the surrounding mountains were magnificent and not to be missed.
