Jake personalized a private tour into Lago Di Garda (Italy) area, with stops in Innsbruck (Austria), Bolzano, Verona and Sirmione. Our adventure included an overnight stay at Hotel Ansitz Rungghof (Bolzano), surrounded by vineyards and amazing views. A private cooking class w/ a renowned Chef overlooking breathe taking views of Lago Di Garda. Cultural, food and wine tasting city tours of Bolzano and Verona. Several night stay (at Piccola Vela Hotel) in Desenzano del Garda. Our garden room was steps away from their pool and well-manicured garden. Our last night, we attended a superb dining experience at Osteria La Frasca, highly recommend for its meals and attentive staff. We closed the tour in scenic Sirmione. Jake was attentive and we seriously underpaid for this adventure.

5 Stars, 10 out of 10, 100%!!! Whatever metric you use, this trip gets the highest score. I went on the Oktoberfest trip with a group of 11 others and we all agreed that it was one of the best trips of our lives! The airport pickups were thoughtful and staying in Garmisch was an excellent idea. Jake planned several activities for our group and they were all really fun. Highlights include - 3 days at Oktoberfest with table reservations (spread out over the 10 days), two castle tours, hot air balloon ride, cable car rides up the German alps, visits to breweries, a really fun apple strudel class followed by a 6 course dinner with beer pairing, and a Mozart concert in Salzburg in a building constructed in the 600s. The accommodations were perfect, and once we landed we didn't have to worry about a thing. If you are looking for a fun way to enjoy Oktoberfest without the hassle of planning a trip thru a foreign country, this is it. It was absolutely worth it. Prost!

Again another amazing 10 day trip in the books with Jake Doherty & All Things Garmisch. Nothing like having VIP treatment and tables during Octoberfest 2022. The food, beer and laughs where nothing short of an awesome time at the biggest event in the world. Then off to Salzburg Austria with our amazing group to experience some new adventures. Mozart Dinner Concert, historical walks through the city, awesome food and shopping topped off with the most beautiful day at the top of the Alps viewing Eagles Nest which was breath taking. Hats off and big thumbs up to Jake Doherty for arranging and planning such an awesome adventure. We are so pleased with All Things Garmisch we have booked Christmas Markets trip and Krampus 2022. So looking forward to returning to Germany in a few weeks.

Jake planned and organized our week long trip to Italy. He did an amazing job organizing our once in a lifetime vacation. We experienced unique VIP trips including private vineyards and a cooking class overlooking Lake Garda. Thanks for everything.

I’d love to convey how absolutely amazing the Krampus tour is, but this tour is something one must experience first hand. There is no way to describe the feeling you get when you hear the bells clank knowing Krampus is near. I can’t adequately describe the bit of fear followed by the rush you get when Krampus comes near you, looks at you and maybe smacks you with a branch. It is exciting and invigorating! You walk away feeling like the travelers you just met are your teammates and partners in battle regaling tales of narrowly escaping Krampus, or of being scared to get flogged as Krampus approaches but instead being marked with coal on the face.
As a solo female traveler in her 40s, I can attest to the excellent tour content, the safety, the positive group dynamic, and the sound logistics and communication of Jake, Drew and All Things Garmisch. I saw Jake and Drew oversee care for a fellow traveler who needed an emergency room and then a specialist appointment. They handled the situation appropriately and without incident. As a former clinical liaison, I was glad to see it.
Our group was the Krampus Tour and we mingled with the Christmas Market tour also. The ages of people on our Krampus Tour spanned 30s to 70s, and it seemed most of us were 40s and 50s, and I’d say there’s something for everyone. Some people kept to their family or group while many of us became friends and spent time eating street food, shopping together and occasionally shutting down bars.
This trip is perfect for most people whether seasoned travelers, solo travelers, female travelers, and couples or friend groups old and young. I would advise you to have adequate mobility as there are stairs to climb and hills to walk. This is not appropriate for the mobility impaired, but that is the only restriction I’d advise.

My husband and I booked a 10 day "Bavarian Beer Vacation" trip with Jake. Included were tours of Garmish-Partenkirchen, Neuschwanstein, breweries, Zugspitze, Herrenchimsee Palace, Oberammagau, Munich, Saltzburg, and Sound of Music. In addition, we took a hot air balloon ride, took an apple strudel making class, went to a Mozart Concert, and attended Oktoberfest twice with table reservations in the tents.

Jake is incredibly knowledgeable and his love for the content he shares is evident in his storytelling. My husband and I were put with a small group of 11 other people making the tour feel friendly and intimate. On our trip we ate delicious Bavarian food, drank many beers, learned a ton of history, and marveled in the beauty of Germany and Austria. We had THE best time and were sad to be leaving at the end of our trip.

Having read the other reviews on Trip Advisor, we decided to have Jake from "All Things Garmisch" arrange all our tours for myself and my 13 year old daughter. Jake is very professional, most articulate, flexible, caring, and most importantly fun! He corresponded by email extensively with us prior to our arrival, and set up a fantastic tour schedule to meet our needs.

We did his Walking Tour of Garmisch our first afternoon - an excellent introduction to the town and its history. Jake has done a lot of his own research and really knows his stuff. Even better, he made all the history into quite interesting and informative stories. We then spent a full day visiting the Neuschwanstein Castle, LInderhof Castle, Weiskirche (beautiful church), and Ettal Monastery. This sounds like a lot in one day, but we saw everything we wanted to see and never felt rushed. We had an awesome lunch at an out-of-the-way, quaint restaurant, and he even surprised my daughter and I will an Alpine Slide run on the way to one of the locations.

Next we went on a sobering and respectul visit to Dachau, and spent the afternoon in Munich. Again, we saw as much as we could see in Dachau, and had plenty of time to take a tour of Munich. I highly recommend taking "Mike's Bikes Tour" of Munich. For about 24 Euro, Mike's Bikes provides an amazing four hour tour of Munich that is lots of fun. You can see MUCH more than you would on foot in an afternoon. Jake recommends this tour as well, and decided to come with us to make sure he should continue to recommend it. He thought it was awesome too!

On our final day with Jake, he arranged a bus tour with 6 others to Salzburg. It was a fabulous day! Again, not rushed, yet we felt like we had seen quite a lot and learned quite a lot for the limited time we had available.

Jake is very, very accomodating and fun. I highly recommend any of his tours. He will help put together whatever you want to do in the area. He seems to be quite the expert on brewing beer, so I'm guessing his brewery tours are fun too.

Some other notes: Partnach Gorge is fairly easy to see on your own. It is easy to walk to the Olympic Stadium from downtown Garmisch and see the gorge. You will probably get more information if you go on Jake's tour, though, and he recommends other hikes in the area as well.

It is very easy to travel by train in Germany. We went to Oberammergau on our own. This town is well know for its wood-carving trade and is just a lovely town. It's a great place to souvenier shop! We took the train for about 8-9 Euros each and spent the day there. It is a small town and it is easy to get around on foot. We also took the train to Murnau. Murnau is also a pretty town, but there is a lot less to see (on foot from the train station to the center of town) than Oberammergau. Murnau is know for its lakes and many artists, but I didn't see any art shops in the center of town.

Innsbruck is also very easy to get to by train. You can go to the information booth at the train station on arrival and get a walking tour map to tour on your own. Again, not as informative as having a tour guide with you, but we thought it was fun. I HIGHLY recommend going to the Olympic ski jump stadium in Innsbruck and taking the cable car ride to the top. Awesome view! You can then easily catch a tram to the center of town where most of the interesting sights and shopping places are.

Jake is All things Garmisch. He's an ex-pat American catering to the American tourist trade. Jake loves telling stories but am not quite sure of the veracity of his tales. Jake loves to drink and can get over the top a bit. He is quite entertaining.

Hi all, For the past four years my clients have suggested I write a response my one 'bad' review. I have hesitated because I did not want the person who wrote this to feel 'less' for her review. But plenty of time has passed and I guess it is now time. So here goes: first off, the woman who wrote this is a great person. By her voice I have strived to become a better tour guide. I have since compiled evidence for all of my 'stories' and have worked very hard to learn even more of the history of Bavaria. As to the claim that "Jake loves to drink and can get over the top a bit",,, well in a way that was true and still is. The woman who wrote this review was part of a group of 32 people who where on a brewery tour. Our world famous brewery tour is famous because of the interactive nature of the tour, the energetic and charismatic master brewer who gives the tour, and the obscene amount of "samples" that are consumed during the tour. I am not going to change that. The format for this tour has worked exceptionally well in the past six years. All our reviews minus this one have been positive. The nature of the tour requires the participants, including the tour guide, to responsibly enjoy beer in order to discuss the flavors, tastes, and styles. In my opinion, this provides a better experience for the adult clients who participate in this tour. The last thing I want to emphasize is that this review is based on one tour, our brewery tour. If you are looking for family friendly tours I have tons. From Neuschwanstein castle to How to Make German Chocolate there are some amazing options for families at 'all things garmisch.' Being the father of two gorgeous daughters I like to think I have a certain skill at entertaining and capturing the imagination of children and if you don't believe me just have a look at the other one hundred plus reviews of my services here on Trip Advisor. :).

Storytelling is a cornerstone of human existence, and it's what enables some people to communicate and connect with anyone. Jake is a masterful storyteller with a wealth of knowledge about European history. You are drawn in from the second you board the van. Every part of the day was well planned and presented to perfection. Loved it!

My wife and I recently stayed in Garmisch at the Edelweiss Lodge and Resort (The Army Hotel) this past December. It is true that the Army hotel does offer some version of some of the same tours Jake offers for a little less money, but do not be mislead Jakes tours are extremely affordable and will completly blow any group bus tour out of the water. Our second night in Garmisch we did the chocolate tour with Jake. Words cannot describe how much fun we had and how awesome the chocolate shop was. Every aspect of the tour was simply perfect. The following day we did the Munich day tour with Jake. Jake will customize this tour to your every whim and desire. He seems to know everyone everywhere we went. There are things that he will show you that just would not be possible in a large tour group. Some minor like a simple mark on a while that has significant meaning, others a little more important like hidden tombs in churches you would never notice. When i wanted to go to the Lush store to get some gifts for my daughter he knew right where it was and took us straight there. Jake also knows all the best places to eat. Day 3 we did the the castle tour/monestary tour/Oberammergau shopping tour. Again Jake knew all of the ins and outs of these places. His timing is impeccable and he knows so much history of Bavaria it really is incredible. I don't want to spoil too much of his tours for you but there are again places he will take you that you just aren't going to find on any map or in any book. The last tour we did was the innsbruck city tour. He took us to Ambras palace and to the Christmas Markets. Again i don't want to give away all of his secrets but you will be amazed at his vast knowledge of the places he takes you. I will sum up this review by saying My wife and I have traveled the world a lot. We have been on many group bus tours and many smaller semi private tours. Nothing we have ever been on compares to the tours that Jake provides. He is on time every morning to pick you up at whatever time you choose. He takes your input and designs his schedule around you. You are never rushed, there are no set in stone time limits. On the way to your destinations he will answer any questions that you have and tell you so much about the history of the area. His connections are limitless he knows everyone. Jake will even provide you with suggestions and recommendations for things you might want to do on your own. He is very personable and very professional. He really gave my wife and I one of the best vacations we have ever been on. Do not waste your time on group bus tours, his prices are so affordable and you will not be dissapointed. I would give this review 100 stars if I could.
