You travel up the mountain in a chairlift, giving you a chance to enjoy the scenery in a pleasant, relaxed fashion. This in itself is well worth the ten Euros cost. Then, at the top, where there's a wooden chalet cafe, you get into your toboggan. With a seatbelt. You'll need it! The run down is exhilirating, exciting and terrifying... More

This cable car brings you up or down in 15-20 minutes. Above the kids (of many ages) can play. There is also a nice restaurant but busy too. Sometimes you have to be lucky to sit outside with good weather. Next to this you have an option to go back with the Alpine coaster.

Kolbensattel ski resort ideally meets family fun criteria: gradual piste structure (from beginners to skilled skiers), three slopes for children and beginners (including professional ski school nearby), a lot of traditional restaurants and close distance to the city of Oberammergau. Don't forget to use Ammergauer guest card while purchasing the ski passes and using the Laber cable car which is... More

We used the lift today to climb do the Sonnenberg Rift Walk, which was a fantastic experience. Lovely restaurant at the top! We'll be going up again tomorrow to get the the top of the Kofel! It was my firs time in a chair lift and jumping off was a bit tricky!!

Take a walking trail or the chair lift to the Kolbensattel, then hike from there, enjoy the playground, have a great meal while gazing at the mountains and Oberammergau valley. Finish with a ride down the coaster for a perfect adventure!

Go into Oberammagau and a 10 minute walk will bring you to the chairlift. A the top you can get onto the coaster ride. This snakes down the mountain with lots of gasp points. Lovely restaurant at the top.

We had to try two times before we were able to find the alpine coaster - follow the signs to Kolbe/lift to find it. The coaster itself was pretty long and with nice views though the sporty and masculine side of mine didn't fully respect the automatic breaking despite I tried to go full ahead. But very nice with younger... More

Having been here before, I knew what to expect....an easy mountain that doesn't cost too much to enjoy. There were a ton of young kids on the mountain learning to ski and just what I was looking for for my family. Although the snow was lacking as it is in all of Southern Germany this Winter, it was just enough... More

The Ski area at the Kolben in Oberammergau is small but perfect for beginners or a short afternoon workout. The main ski slope is about 2,5 km long and easy to ski. The prices of the ski pass are reasonable and ski rental is available nearby. The Kolbensattelhütte is a wooden lodge at the top end of the cable car... More
