There is a nice little garden outside the building. However, as we just went to Mirabelle garden in Sazlburg, so we did not have much fancy on this garden. There are few artists doing their fine art work inside the Pilatuhaus of which you are...More

Very attractively painted house with attractive garden. Inside it is now turned over to various arts and crafts with a jeweller, glass worker and wood carver active during our visit. Little or explanation of the house or its history. Held our attention for all of...More

The town of Oberommergau is quiet and interesting but not espeically exciting. The Pilate house was interesting because there was an artist carving wood there that would talk to you explain what he was doing. This is a good rainy day stop. It's free to...More

Oberammergau is a nice stop if you're in the area but I wouldn't make a special trip unless you haven't seen any medieval towns. We were there in July and half the roads were all completely torn up without any pavement. The painted buildings are...More

You should definitely spend some time admiring all the painted buildings in Oberammeragau! This one in particular has a working artists' studio (we saw a guy carving masks) and a small museum of painted glass and other arts on the upper floor. Free, which is...More

Mostly, people will associate Oberammergau with the Passion Play (held every 10 years), but the absolutely incredible paintings on the exterior of the buildings is not to be believed. At the Pilaushaus, it's more of the same. Inside, it's the home for artisans. No one...More

The external walls on the houses in this town were mostly painted with beautiful pictures. Pilatushaus was the best of all. There was no English explanation outside and we only took a few photos from outside and tour around the other sides of the street....More

Walked inside to a couple artists doing carving and making spinning tops. My son especially liked watching the lathe work. The little garden on the side is pretty. Worth walking in to see.

The outside of the building was well-painted and beautiful, this was the only one. When we read the sign at the door, it tuned out to be a live craftsman studio. It was open on a Saturday afternoon during Bavarian holiday. Inside, there was a...More
