What a stunning place. Unfortunately it was frozen when we were here this February but you could tell the beauty even in winter. I can't wait to come back and do the boat tour!

The Bavarian Alps go straight down to the waters edge. Shonau am Koenigsee has all the amenities you could ever wish for in a holiday destination.... More

As a non-native German speaker, making the solo trek to Konigsee from Salzburg was a bit awkward. Coming here in the beginning of winter was nice because the sun melted the fog and the surrounding mountains glistened white in the light. Good hiking.

My family and I took the boat tour around Lake Konigssee in May. We initially arrived around 9am or so and there was not much of a crowd. It was a rainy day which made the views more stunning. The water is crystal clear and a lovely blue color. We saw waterfalls along the way as well. We got off... More

If you don't speak German, make sure you download the audio guide at the visitor center before you leave so you can listen to all of the stories about the lake while you're on the boat. If you want a good hike, skip stop 1 and go straight to stop 2. You can hike all the way back to the... More

I visited Konigssee first in 1969.. It was beautiful then but apart from an increase in footfall and the later closure of the roads to traffic, little has changed.. I stayed at the Hotel by the lake all those years ago..It's still there and just as I remember it. The lake is stunning and the electric boat trips are essential..... More

What a wonderful experience! Absolutely loved it. Be sure to take the short hike at the end to see the second lake. I have some lovely photos of the reflections and the clear water.
