If you are in the area, then just go there.
8,5 eruo for a car seems fair for us, as it seems that the road has no other function than giving tourists a nice view.
We went there eventhoug it was a bit cloudy and we still had a good experince. We would go there again if we come back in the future on a less cloudy day. You can go there even if you are afraid of hights. We only went through by car and didnt walk any of trails.

8 Euros is a good and fair price to access this road and hilltop. It is in no way whatsoever intimidating to drive - the road is beautifully tarmacked and wide. It couldn't be any better or easier - unless you are on bike or foot - then you have your work cut out. Lovely views and walks at the top.

The views are really stunning. We went here few times during out stay as our son likes to sleep in the car. There are lot of possibilities to stop and enjoy the view. Generally is very thought of attraction.

This place should be more promoted! It was totally worth the price (8€). The road was a little bit scary to drive but also very safe, so don’t hesitate and put it on your bucket List!

It's difficult to review a road - it's a good road, high in the mountains with outstanding views. You don't have to be on the road to get spectacular views - but that doesn't diminish how good these views are. The Kehlstein and Hoher Goll are spectacular and the view across to Salzburg is magnificent. It's definitely worth seeing - and I would argue that it's worth the toll, even if there are other places you can see the view for free.
However, I wanted to write a review to point out that you don't need to be in a car to enjoy this attraction. If you are staying in town and have a guest card (available from hotels for people staying in the region, for a small deposit) you can catch the buses for free. The 848 goes halfway along the Rossfeld Road about four or five times a day (check the timetables and destination board though, since travel along the road is seasonal and frequency varies). You will need to pay a part of the toll for the road to the bus driver - we paid 1.50Euro each in September 2015 - but you don't pay anything else. The bus goes as far as Hannenkopfl, which is where the best views are to be had and a short panoramic walk is signposted. You can stay on the bus, which will turn around and return the way it came, or wait for the next one - again, be sure to check the timetables but there was one an hour after ours.
We chose, however, to use the bus stop as the start of a hike - a short way along the road itself and then along a footpath to the foot of the climb up to Purtschellerhaus. We then followed footpaths down the hillside, through alms and woods, eventually to Buchenhohe, from where we caught the bus back to Berchtesgaden.
You will need a map and a bus timetable, or to be prepared to confirm details with the bus driver, but you can enjoy Rossfeld without a car. It costs less and you still get the amazing views - plus a great starting point for a day's hiking. Very much recommended!

I´m sure this is a really enjoyable ride on a sunny day, and for most tourists it´s probably worth the money.
I had only one day to get to see this place, and this day was of course super cloudy.
The lady in the entrance station said it was worth it anyway, but I was barely able to see anything at all. Also, the price for driving this road was quite expensive. Before coming here, I thought there would be no extra fee driving this particular road.
Anyhow, a nice experience also driving to the destination itself (before the fog appeared), where you encounter some really nice views and interesting houses/restaurants closeby. Be aware, the roads are steep - and I´m used to steep roads back in Norway.

There is a toll but you will be happy to pay it when you see where the road takes you.
High alpine views. We drove on a partly cloudy day in mid-May. The road was clear, but there was snow banked up in places on the side. There are several easy pullouts, one in particular at a bridge about mid-way where you have wonderful views of snow-capped peaks, so close you feel as if you can reach out and touch them. I was clad in shorts and a shirt and it felt perfect.
We live in a mountainous region so we generally do not seek out mountain views, and we were not planning on doing this drive. It turned out be wonderful. We stopped at an alpine cafe and had coffee and cake while looking at the peaks on one side, and the expansive view to the town below. I suppose this is very much a weather dependent activity. There are webcams one can check to give an idea before setting out.
On the drive out (down) we passed through picturesque alpine meadows, bathed in wonderful green and dotted with farm buildings. A superb outing.

You need the right kind of weather for this tour - there's not much to see when it's rainy or foggy, but we went on a bright sunny day and the 8 euros you have to pay to use this road are well-invested.
Views are breath-taking and you can spend hours just being there and enjoying the scenery.

Hello,
Sorry I cannot answer, because we drive through by car before closing. Die Aussicht war spektakulär.
Hi,
Is it safe to drive the rossfeld panoramastrasse in a Mercedes c180 station wagon when it’s heavily snowing?
Thank you

We went there last September. I have never driven in snow. But the road has many curves and slopes (up and down) . I recommend , that you contact the Panorama StraBe directly about your inquiry. They surely know better and any of us.

How long did it take you to do the drive, including stopping to take in the views?

We were staying in Berchtesgaden and so the start of the drive was only 15-20 minutes away. Obviously, it depends on how long you spend out of the car. The drive itself would only be an hour or so. It depends a lot on the weather, if it's cloudy then you will be driving in the clouds, it's pretty high, and probably not stopping often. Even on a misty day, it's worth the trip. Clear spots have fantastic views.
