...passing through Berchtesgaden...in Bavaria!!...I stopped to visit this beautiful church dedicated to Saints Peter and John!!...it is the oldest church in the town!!...the façade is very particular!!...which is in style neo-Romanesque and squeezed between two bell towers!!…about fifty-six meters high!!…the interior has three naves…with the main altar decorated with statues of angels!!…frescoes and columns!!l…but in addition to 'main altar you can also see the two side altars!!…and this Königliches Schloss in Berchtesgaden is definitely worth a visit!!…

It is not even a castle, it is palace or monastery, the most. However, it was closed and therefore we spent the allocated time in the town. Which is a gem. Small town with narrow coble stone streets, small shops and pubs, typical German. loved every inch of it, see the pictures.

We have just had a tour with Francisca. We arrived for the 3 o'clock tour and were greeted by a friendly cashier who spoke English and gave us an English script for the tour. We turned out to be the only 2 on it and our lovely guide spoke English for us explaining everything in detail and with good humour. There is so much to see and lots of rooms to visit- more than we saw at Hohenschwangau castle. I think we talked for longer than our allotted time but we're not rushed on our tour. A must see if you are in Berchtesgaden.

When I was in Berchtesgaden for the first time I didn't get the chance of visiting this place! I am glad i could return and visit this marvellous castle! The tour is in german, but as we started, the guide tryed his best to explain in English! As we where able to understand a bit of german, everything end. up well, and we where able to learn many things about this magnifcent castle and the history of those who leaved there! While staying in the área this is a MUST!

We visited at 11 on a Monday in mid November.
The castle can only be visited by tour & the tour went at 11 for 12e each.
The tour was in german but the guide included us in the tour with a brief welcome in English & some highlights as we went round in english. He checked several tines we were ok with everything & we had several pages in English on the toons we were visiting.
It is a very interesting building over several 100 years & 3 different purposes- monestry, castle & palace.
Very enjoyable.

Hi,
It''s beautiful place. Great views of mountains , great history places, great food, but what I don't like at all it's monument of german soldiers ww2 1939 - 1945. This soldiers are criminal based of Nuremberg process and book you can buy about Hitler and other criminals his friends in the next store. In this place from 1920 - 1939 all criminals had houses and stayed. This dark time for this place and young generation don't have to know about this at all.

Very pretty castle as are many of the buildings in Berchtesgaden. We didn't take the tour as time did not permit. So much to explore in this area, but more time than we had is needed to appreciate all the town has to offer. Highly recommended

We visited the Schloss while on a coach trip to Berchtesgaden while on holiday in Austria. We had planned on going up to the Eagles Nest but the weather was showery and very low cloud so we opted to spend all our time in the town itself.
We visited this Schloss and glad we did. It was very atmospheric and we found it interesting too. Unfortunately there is no English translation given by the tour guide, but we were given a room by room guide in the form of a leaflet which was helpful and gave the information we needed on each room.
I cannot remember how much the entrance fee was but it was not overly expensive and an interesting thing to do on a fairly inclement day.
The square where it is situated is quite picturesque too.

The building looks like a cream puff and the inside is also really nice. They had a surprising amount of furniture and paintings. Since we didn’t speak German we had to guide ourselves with the help of a binder with written information - which was ok. We would’ve enjoyed more information though or some occasional questions by the guide that ensured we were satisfied. Good prices and nice staff!
