This opera house is superb, and one of the finest theaters I've seen in Europe. While its facade is not too impressive, once you enter the mail theater, it's as if you are teleported back in time to the Wagnerian era. Everything about the theater...More

The Operahouse is under renovation. Fair enough, it's probably necessary. But luring tourists inside to see almost nothing maybe on the verge of cheating. The first room is with historical fact in German end English, and is about the renovation of the opera. The second...More

This is a significant and beautiful opera house - the best preserved Baroque opera house in the world. I was excited to visit because it had been closed for renovation during my previous two trips to Bayreuth. Unfortunately, yet again, the Bavarian Palace Department deliver...More

One of the few baroque wooden court theatres to survive almost unchanged through the times. Recently renovated it only reopened again this spring. The theatre itself is stunning. It can only be seen in with a guide, though you can roam around the theatre floor...More

Recently reopened after an extensive refurbishment it is a stunning hall. Would have loved to see a performance there. Printed English guide could have been a little more detailed but still good. Multi media intro had English subtitles. Really a WOW

It is hard to describe the beauty and craftsmanship of the Opera House. It is a must see! Unfortunately, the tour is only in German but there is a very informative Brochure to read in English.

Non pretentious on the outside but the interior and details are amazing. Entrance is 8 EUR and we didn’t had troubles getting tickets there on a Sunday. The last entrance on a Sunday is at 15:15 when you will get to see the iron curtains...More

I've visited twice and just love it. So gorgeous inside. I only wish they had English tours. Or at least audio guides or discount the price for English visitors. You're basically paying 8€ to just sit there with no information.

At last the theatre restoration has been completed and after several years it's once again accessible to visitors. It's an incredible sight and I would hope to experience an opera in there at some point in the future. The visits commence at 45 minute intervals...More

An interesting building with a beautiful interior but the entrance fee was far too expensive for the limited experience.

Wnderful, tiny opera theatre - only sorry we couldn't see a performance, which must be quite an experience.

This is a vcomplete and fully functional 18th century opera house, lavishly decorated and opulent. Tours are only in German, but you are seated during the tour. Well worth the visit even if, like us, you don’t speak German.
