My wife and I took the bus from Berchtesgaden (about 40 minutes) to Hintersee and walked around the lake.
The walk is easy, about 3km long, along a good path that is mostly level and follows the lake shore all the way around. There are public toilets at the Hintersee village end as well as a couple of guesthouses.
There is a large guesthouse overlooking the lake with outside tables and a large canopy about 150m beyond the final bus stop with a 'New York' cafe which we went into for hot drinks which were excellent. The food looked extremely good and I would recommend giving this place a go.
The scenery was spectacular. The lake is amazingly coloured with good views of various peaks around. The woods and surrounding alpine meadows make this a special place and worth 2 or 3 hours. We were very glad to have done this trip even in the heavy rain.

As the name in German implies, it truly is an enchanted forest.
You need good shoes and have a bit of energy to walk from the church in Ramsau through the Zauberwald to lake Hintersee. Not difficult, nor steep, a magical place where you think Hansel and Gretel come strolling out any minute. The Brothers Grimmn come to mind while meandering through this enchanted forest. On the way, you'll encounter small huts with benches that serve beer, -naturally, as beer is king in Bavaria- water, soft drinks and, I believe, snacks. It is a leisurely stroll, might take about 30 minutes to reach the lake and a small boat will take you across the lake to Hintersee. Lots of restaurants and resting places. The local bus will transport you back to Ramsau without charge.
If you want to experience a tranquil and truly enchanting place,
walk through the Zauberwald to be rewarded with renewed appreciation for our planet.

Just a few minuets drive from Ramsau, there's this beautiful small lake, surrounded by mountains, a forest and a clear-water flow of the Klausbach river.
You can park your car just next to the lake. We did that in Seeklause (standard parking fees apply) and go to a walk in this area. There are few trails that start next to this point, some go alongside the freezing water of Klausbach river, which turnes into Ramsauer Ache when going through Ramsau town.
Hintersee is surrounded by a lovely trail, that will accommodate kids and strollers as well. You can go into the water, rent a small wooden boat or just enjoy a hike or a picnic.

Part of the Berchtesgaden National Park, the Zauberwald and Hintersee are surrounded by towering mountains that attract vacationers and hikers in the summertime. There are easy trails (such as around the lake) and more strenuous ones. Lakeshore facilities include restaurants, vacation apartments, and boat rentals. And being near to Berchtesgaden, plenty of tourists who visit Hilter's Eagle's Nest also come here.

In the right conditions and at certain times of day - low sun, for example - there are some really lovely moments that just make you stop. Love this walk.

Recommend driving past Hotel at back of Hintersee, you can park at beginning of trail for Free (! a rarity). A pleasant walk through a forest and along a river with wonderful views of Schärtenspitze and Steinberg mountains. Moss covered bolders and trees, Alpine flowers, mushrooms. We gathered lunch as are knowlegable about them. Also saw some dangerous ones. Various lake side views have easles with copies of paintings from that perspective. About 5 1/2 miles total. Easy walking except for one section, would be do-able for families with children.

Plenty of free parking. This area is situated in the Naturepark and is called the "Zauberwald" or Magic Forest, near to Ramsau.
There is a nature trail that follows the river up to the lake called Hintersee. Park at the first opportunity after Ramsau, free parking, and follow the signs to the lake. The trail is well prepared, but good walking shoes recommended. An alternative is to park at Hintersee and then follow the trail around the lake, better for young children and older people. Very well prepared.

This trail combines lovely forest, a walk through an old landslide (with a good trail, so no scrambling), and a walk along the river that is almost like being in a klamm.
Beautiful landscape and easy walking, mostly, but it can get crowded as the day progresses. Go early, and given the limited access to WCs, go before you go. Also bring water and wear decent walking foot wear.

Of course! With a pram will be a Little difficult, but with a Baby carrier may be better.
