Dating back to 15th century, the city walls nowadays offer a nice stroll - frrom the Lauseck Bastion past the Fishermen’s and Tanners’ quarters, the “Metzgerturm” to Friedrichsau Park. There are many cafés and restaurants with views to the river.

Accessed by a number of walkways, the Ulmer Stadtmauer is an excellent way to enjoy views of the Donau / Danube and the attractive historical and modern structures along the river front.

We walked a bit near the Fisherman's Quarter along the river and got a different view of some of Ulm. Very quiet when we visited but I imagine it is quite busy in the Summer as it was very pretty.

What a lovely historic part of the town, so fantastic that it has been preserved. Walk along the cobblestone streets along the river Danube and explore the old city wall.

... along the blue Danube. Centuries ago the city walls were standing in the middle of the river. Now the Danube is straightened and the wall is at the shore of the majestic river.

Quite fragmented and disappointing when compared to many smaller towns. However, it is a pleasant way to spend some time, particularly if part of a larger walking tour of the inner city. The section near the Metzgerturm is easy to get to, but I did...More
