sensationally beautiful Rococo castle in the countryside with a great view
Jun 2020
Beautifully built, splendidly designed from the outside and inside, a fascinating sight and a nice place to walk. Located on a hill, it offers a beautiful view of the surroundings.
You can park nearby, but not directly at the castle. It is about 1km that you walk through an avenue before you get to the property.
The Rococo Castle Solitude, which was built in the years 1764 to 1775, has some relationship with Sanssouci in Potsdam. The rooms inside have approaches from the classicist era.

Very nice for a sunny afternoon. You can sit comfortably on the large meadow in front of the castle.
The only thing - on the weekends, the wedding parties pilgrimage to the castle for photo shoots and besiege the rows of stairs and the property. If possible, come outside of this time, it's a nicer photo opportunity and a nicer sight

Beautiful Serene Spot befitting of the Name
Jan 2020 • Solo
Schloss Solitude is situated on a hill overlooking the city valley below. It's a beautiful and quiet spot. The tour is rather short and visitors are allowed in only with a guided tour. English tours are only available on the weekend. There is a restaurant on site and hiking trails behind the palace. It's worth a visit. I wish I had brought a picnic lunch so I could spend some more time outside enjoying the view.

A big disappointment
Dec 2019
Not that the palace doesn't look great on the outside (even though it cannot even be compared to Sans Souci, which many seem to suggest, but in terms of organization, logistics and service for me this place is a total disaster. First, you can get in only with a guided tour. Second, some of the tours are announced as "family tours", meaning, they are oriented to kids mainly. Which means you may be asked to wait for an hour and a half, before you can get to the "right" tour for you. And in the end, especially on weekends and holidays there is a bus only once an hour, and the tour schedules make zero consideration for the bus schedule, meaning after you have waited for more than an hour and a half to get to the tour, then spent 45 minutes in the castle, you will have to wait for another 50 minutes for the bus back to the city. Which might even be a good idea in summer, but in winter it just makes the visit worthless.

Good views, interesting building
Sep 2019
This certainly would not be on my "top..." lists but was OK to see for free on my StuttCard. I was told I had to take a tour if I wanted to see inside, and the only tour available was in German. That was fine, I understood enough of it to know basically what was being said (the guide knew I spoke English). I always prefer to just walk around alone, and take photos, neither of which I could do here. I'm not saying this to complain, just to let people know. The tour was fairly short and finished in time to get the bus back. There were some nice views from behind the Schloss. Not a "must see" but I can understand how people interested in this region and the period in which this was being built, would want to visit here.

The place was closed, available private tours only in german. No access at all, we did a short walk around and that was it. Nice view of the city.

I went & toured myself through the Schloss & enjoyed it tremendously. To see all the nice Rooms they lived in was so nice to see.

Great place
Sep 2019 • Friends
It has been almost two years since we were last here but it still a wonderful place. We walked through the grounds and the adjacent woods and then sat in the sunshine watching different couples celebrating their wedding day.
It was lovely and peaceful and could have happily stayed there all afternoon.

An okay palace
Jul 2019 • Couples
This was our first time visiting Schloss Solitude, and I thought it was okay. It’s not very big, but worth seeing. Evidently, it was a hunting lodge/summer home for Duke Von Wurtenberg. We did the tour ~€2, and it was interesting. The grounds were nice, but no where as nice as the residence in Ludwigsburg.

In the end, I’d recommend you see it if you happen to be close by. I don’t think I’d go back.

This is the first time I have visited Solitude since I was in my early 20's. I still get the feeling of peace and serenity here. Great attraction to visit while you are in town.

Solitude is bliss
Mar 2019 • Family
Best place to go with family on a sunny weekend. You can have a nice view of the city with a few people grilling and lying on the grass relaxingly. The is a cafe too on the backside serving some nice coffee and cakes. It's a must visit place if ur in Stuttgart. There is a bus connection too(bus no 92)
