We enjoyed a lovely few hours on Mainau and only wished that we'd left more time for it. At €11 entry for students, it seemed a little steep but on reflection, it was more than worth the price of entry. The flowers and gardens are simply jaw dropping and the range of things to do - from feeding animals to... More

Going from Switzerland, after a lovely morning boat ride on the Lake of Constance we arrived at our destination. You could easily spend a day here! I went in May and the island was full of tulips and spring flowers in bloom! there is a small petting zoo, my favourite were the goats where you could actually go in the... More

We visited with the family. We all enjoyed the wonderful little island. The adults enjoyed the landscaping and for kids theyhave a stunning playground (don't forget to take their bathing clothes.., the playground has a lot of things to play in relation with water:-) Children up to 12 don't pay to get onto the island.

This Island is just a garden full of wonderful flowers and trees from around the world. If you are near Konstanz don't miss it even if the ticket (19€) per adult is not cheap.

We visited Mainau this weekend and I have to make some points which for me were not clear from other reviews. The island is uninhabited and you pay EUR 19 per adult on arrival for entry which includes everything on the island (as far as I could tell) eg the butterfly house. Apart from the butterfly house and being a... More

Mainau it's located on the lake of Konstanz in Germany, not too far from the Swiss border. If you choose a sunny day it will be beautiful to deep in a variety of colorful flower, an especially well kept park. Suitable for families. Very nice also the butterfly reserve. Worth of a visit if you are in the neighborhood. A... More

We visited there at the begining of august. It was nice sunny day with wind. Near from the entrancebridge, we could see big flower, ducklins and peacock made with flowers. Those were really nice to see! On the southside of the island, we could see many kinds of flowers. It was like flowercarpets. In the middle of this area, there... More

Visiting Mainau in Summer gives the best chance to visitors to experience the sheer majesty and splendour associated with the place. Set against the backdrop of the Alps and Lake Konstanz, the island offers great glimpses into beauty of the natural world in all its grandeur. Numerous flower gardens, large mansion on top of the highest point, petting zoo, views... More

We have visited this island in July, it was a wonderful explosion of colours: flowers, very old trees and an amazing butterfly area. Definitely recommended, especially if you love nature!
