My wife and I visited last year, and it was a great visit. I never knew the heavy industry was so close to St Etienne. What a waste Thatcherisation was to Europe. The toilets are well worth a look . Old and new together.

Really rustic and interesting. I liked the animations. I'd check the times for the mine visits as we timed is badly and couldn't go :( But overall would recommend if you admire beauty in decay.

The best mine museum I have visited so far. Stuff lack language skills so you'd better to understand French

The mine is a big page of St Etienne history so having saved a mine and opening it to tourist sounded like a great idea. Unfortunately the intent falls a little short and if you do not have a local with you you will miss...More

A great reminder that it has not been easy for many French and foreign workers of the mine. We did not get to go visit the galleries since we went on the first Sunday of the month (free for everyone and crowded). Have a look...More

We liked the Museum quite well, since it gives a good insight into the tradition and history of the region. The guided tour was well done. The part of the mueum below the surface needs a little overhaul since many of the paperboard figures are...More
