Friendly and knowledgeable welcome

A little run-down maybe, the trap of all private 'benevole' museums but amply made up for my the welcome. A knowledgable and friendly madame who answered our questions and freely imparted her extensive knowledge of the town. An interesting exhibition of the evolution of one of France's important towns and a birthplace of the industrial revolution set in a an old and interesting 'hotel particulier'. A visit is recommended to this tranquil and interesting little museum.

interesting history introduction of the town

The museum is renovated from an old house, which makes the building itself worth a visit. Staff I met was capable of English and gave me excellent introduction of the history of the St. Etienne. Old maps, artworks, crafts inside give us impression of the town's development.
