We came across Marche de la Croix-Rousse purely by chance, while wandering the streets in the vicinity. It is a great market where you can buy almost anything. We walked through for some time and actually enjoyed the experience. It's worth spending some time here if you really want to buy something, otherwise only if you have time to spare.

We had a great time browsing this large market. It is set on a hill overlooking Lyon and is a busy market selling allsorts of local produce from wine to cheeses. We went on a Sunday which is also the day for the Flea market and Handicrafts. The place can get very busy but it just goes to show how good it is. If, like me, you don't speak much French look for the stalls that have the pre-prepared bowls of produce so you know what you are getting and what the price will be. Although I did have a go at asking, luckily the French have a great sense of humour!!

Don't miss out; get yourself up the hill and experience some of the best (and most inexpensive) food in Lyon. This market will make you want to stay for a month (or a year) just to try all of the wonderful food from the very friendly people at each stall.

This is a fabulous market overlooking Lyon. It starts at Place de la Croix-Rousse and snakes along Boulevard de la Croix-Rousse. Its open every day except Monday. It sells mainly fresh food like fruit, fish, meat, vegetables and cheese and small-goods. The French love their markets and you can see the locals doing their shopping. We shopped here to stock up on supplies for our apartment. The Metro C line, station Croix-Rousse will get you there.

If you're in the mood for fresh food, amazing smells, beautiful flowers and lots of people watching, then you're in for a treat. Every day (except Mondays) you'll find produce, cheeses, meats, fish, and more... But the best days (more vendors on the market) are Tuesday, Saturday and Sunday.

This market is open on Saturdays and Sundays and is huge. We took the metro from Bellecour to Hotel de Ville then transferred to metro C and got off at Croix Rousse. Upon exiting the station, if you walk on the INSIDE passage, these are all new goods--scarves at 10euros and many other great finds. If you go to Blvd Croix Rousse, which is perpendicular to this passageway, then it's like a flea market with so many stands of used goods from kitchen things to clothing to toys. Mainly junk but still a nice stroll to see what is offered. Across the Blvd from this are your vendors that sell very cheap produce, fruits, meats, chickens, cheeses, and etc. These stalls close down by 1:00pm so must get there before 1pm but the 2nd hand stalls go past beyond 1pm.
Right by the passageway and the Blvd Croix Rousse is a Bistrot Jutard and we bought fresh cooked bulot, couteaux, oysters, and find our own table to eat at. Prices for bulot was very reasonable along with the couteaux. We had their #3 fine de clairs oysters but it was quite salty. Again, you pay first then they bring it to you. You should grab your own bottle of vinaigrette to your table for your oysters. They also have this chive aioli sauce for the bulot which was delicious. We bought our beers at the bar for 6euros/pint and a glass of wine for 2.80euros. We had so much bulots, 12 couteaux, 12 fine de claires, 2 pints 1664, and 1 glass of wine all for about 65 euros.

A real pleasure for your eyes, this large and colorful market with a lot of flowers, fruits, it's the best market here; fresh local , products and good prices; the view is splendid to Lyon city, and it's open on the weekends.

Beautiful fresh produce. If you arent confident speaking in french, look for stalls where produce is already seperated into little tin bowls and individually priced. I got a bowl of beatiful chanterelle mushrooms for 2 euros and big juicy figs for 4. Everything you need for a picnic or making dinner.

This is a daily market - other than Mondays - in the chic Croix-Rousse area of Lyon, way above the Rhone river.
What a treat for the senses. Smell the flowers, drool over the vibrant fresh vegetable and fruit, and be mesmerised by the spit-roasted chickens, dripping fat onto the new potatoes in the trays below.
The locals all seem to shop here....this IS their supermarket. And if you're a visitor, make a DIY picnic, walk a short way before the end of the sprawling market and eat overlooking the mighty river Rhone and the city.

Oú je suis sûre qu'il y a des habilles c'est au marché de dimanche á Charpennes . Il ferme autour midi. Prends le tram 1 ou 2 et descend á l' arrêt de TONKIN.
