I was lucky enough to go on a bright sunny afternoon, if you pay at the quayside it is roughly 15 Euro, I bought a City Card from the Tourist office at Place Bellacor so this was included free (along with many other goodies). The boat is on the Saone river, approximately 15 min walk from the Tourist office. You have to get a ticket at the kiosk on the road overlooking the quay so don’t head down the stairs as soon as you see the boat, otherwise you’ll have to come back up. I got a seat on the upper deck and the boat left punctually. The tour guide was knowledgeable and pointed out many famous buildings/sights in French and then English as we first headed upstream, then downstream to the confluence and finally back to the dock, a little over an hour. Well worth it!…

Costs just 4 euros, the boat ride was pleasant. We took a train to Lyon, walked to Confluence for some shopping before taking the boat to old town to eat Lyonnaise cuisine in a bouchon. Highly recommended!

For €2 each trip (young children free), you can jump on the vaporetto boat taking you from Vieux Lyon to the town centre and then Confluence (and back). For children it was a great regular service which provided plenty to see en route. Well worth trying out!
