Lyon is the most unwelcoming city we have had the misfortune to visit. The hotel receptionist was rude and unhelpful and virtually every local person we encountered was similarly unpleasant. The lasting impression we have is that the City of Lyon dislikes foreigners. We will not be returning and would recommend all non French tourists avoid Lyon.

The bicycle service is rather well designed, generally allows you to get around without problem, however we went on a trip with 10 people, a bicycle would have been incorrectly attached to its support once the walk was over... a person with ill intentions used this bike for several days... what I find deplorable is that the sum of 100 euros is charged and that no recourse is possible... when can we be sure that we have not been confronted with a technical problem? What does travel cost society? I hope this review will allow readers to do more security testing.

I don’t recommend it!
We tested several times before definitely NEVER using them again.
For some bikes, they are aging and difficult to handle. But recently their service had a real problem with one of our two bikes. Or for 15 minutes of running: 35 euros
Don't waste your time making a complaint, they will respond unfavorably to you like all the people who had the same mishap as us previously.

I recently had over some friends from England who wanted to learn about French wines. We went to the Office of Tourism to ask for information on wine tasting excursions or wine tasting events in English. We were given information in French only. It never ceases to amaze me how arrogant some tourist services can be, assuming that tourists can speak the local language.

We visited the Office of Tourism and Congress of Metropolis of Lyon for some advice on things we should be seeing. As it turned out the staff, although extremely busy on the day were quite friendly and provided us with plenty of information about some of the most interesting sights in and around Lyon. They did try to sell us some tickets but we did not buy any, as we prefer to go on our own and at our own pace. However for people who prefer otherwise this is an excellent point to start a visit to Lyon.

Hello Dimitris L,
Thanks a lot for sharing your good experience!
We usually recommand our guests to book their activities and tours as many of Museums and attractions require booking due to the disease situation.
We are glad to offer many free documents, maps and guides, and good tips to discover our beautiful city!
See you soon in Lyon!

Tourist Office very well located and accessible from anywhere in the city center. Spacious, elegant and bright with a functional distribution. (Travel made in 2022)
Staff to attend to tourists seeking information and advice.
We were attended by Rachel who advised and recommended in Spanish very carefully and very patiently.
Thanks to it we were able to know every corner that interested us and helped in everything necessary to organize our 5 day trip in Lyon.

We had little useful advice. Proposal of unsuitable packages. The person at desk 1 was not very friendly or professional but very touchy. If you want to take a lesson, go for it, you won't be disappointed. We managed on our own like adults... What a waste of time for so little information and efficiency. Copy to review…

It's so easy! Bought the City Card in advance on line. Picked it up at the satelite Tourist Information point situated in the centre of the Part Dieu shopping centre. Staff were very friendly and helpful. It's open later than the Main Tourist Information Centre. It was also on the way from the Gare Part Dieu and our Hotel.
It covers almost everything and saves buying seperate saver tickets for trams, metro and buses , as well as including access to all the Museums and Art Galleries and Historic sites.

I purchased the Lyon city card on line for collection at the airport on arrival. It can be collected at 'The Welcome desk between Terminal 1 and 2' There is no clear indication where this desk is when you get to this point and you must go up to the first floor and walk about 250 meters towards the railway station where you will find the booth on the right hand side. The staff are exceptionally helpful and speak good English. My 4 day Lyon city card included a separate return ticket on the Rhone Express tramway to the city centre - total cost € 134 for two people - this included all public transport during our stay - seamless operation on the metro - free cruise on the Rhone - Funicular to the Cathedral - free entry to museums and discounted rate on 2 hour walking tour of Vieux Lyon - this card is essential to experience Lyon at it's best

Hello Patrick B,
Thank you for your positive comment about our Lyon City Card!
If you order a lyon city card online the best and the easier way would be to choose the delivery by post office. But in fact, if you don’t have enough time to receive your card ( 5 -7 days) our partner at the airport is the best solution to collect your card.
We are thinking on how to collect cards easier at the airport and how to indicate better this location .
thanks for this comments.

We will be staying in the countryside of the wine country , in Bagnols, ( about 30 minutes from Lyon).
Are there car services or Uber type taxis that could pick us up and take us to the vIeux town of Lyon and pick us up to take us back at the end of the day? If so, could you provide a few names of such companies? We will be there at the beginning ofJune.
Any information you could provide would be most appreciated.
Thank you very much.

Hi Noori,
You can purchase the tickets for the Hop On Hop Off bus at the Tourist Office located on Bellecour Square (open 9 am-6 pm). You can also buy them on the bus directly. We sell 1 or 2 days tickets. You can take the bus at the bus stop which is on the street behind the Tourist Office, at the corner with Victor Hugo street.
Enjoy your stay in lyon,
Kind regards,

Hi we are visiting Lyon this June 2017 and will be taking the pedicab tour. The meeting place will be in front of the Tourism Office. From the Part Dieu train station to the tourism office, what will be the easiest means of transportation?
Written March 18, 2017
Hello and welcome to Lyon !
You can easily reach the tourist office from Lyon Part-Dieu train station with the bus C9 which is direct. You can take it in front of the train station (exit Vivier-Merle, between the train station and the shopping mall). You will have to stop at Bellecour (last station).
I you prefer the metro, you can take the line B (direction Gare d’Oullins) to the station Saxe-Gambetta and then change for line D (direction Gare de Vaise) and stop at Bellecour.
The tourist office is located on the square (building with the flags).
We look forward to welcome you in Lyon!
Best regards,
Eleonore

Hi There,
We will be in Lyon for 2 days from the 30th August 2016, we have been trying to find any information about a local "food" guide that could show us around the "foodie hotspots" and markets of Lyon, but have been unable to find any, can you please let me know of any tours like this or similar?

I will be spending a day and aa half in Lyon and would like to know the best way to see the best Lyon has to offer. I am on my own and I am an avid photographer and a great lover of history. Can you tell me if it is easy to see most of the old and historical parts of Lyon or is it very scattered. I understand there is a hop on hop off bus but there is a long waiting time between each bus and stop. I will be in Lyon on the 26/27th of February so will also need to have an idea of what the of weather I can expect?? I understand that February in some parts of Europe is the coldest month. do I need to worry about snow?? All information you could provide me with to see the best of Lyon in the time frame I have would be greatly appreciated.
Thanking you for your time and assistance. Kind regards Samantha from Australia
