- Phileas FoggParis, France722 contributionsFor sunsets! It's a beautiful walk to visit this large park with its large lake! You have to go to the sixth arrondissement, the chic neighborhood. It is a very green park with a nautical base and beautiful trees, greenhouses and even a zoo. To try!Visited February 2024Traveled with friendsWritten February 10, 2024
- carocv75Paris, France343 contributionsVery large parkLarge park to walk around, it's very pleasant. I didn't expect to have a free zoo inside the park. This is really unexpected! Very nice experience, even if the weather was not good. A huge lake where there must be a lot of people in summer. A corner of greenery in Lyon.Visited February 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten March 3, 2024
- free2217Rome, Italy1,623 contributionsThe great botanical greenhouses of 1867As soon as you enter this large park, on your right you can see large glass and cast iron greenhouses built around 1867 and partly rebuilt in 1972, whose central body is 21 meters high. Inside there are tropical and subtropical plants from the continent, while a greenhouse is dedicated mostly to camellias. Here, we can see among many others, the chewing gum plant and the agave from which the sisal fiber is extracted. How many of us have imagined the "big tree" of the fragrant frangipani? In reality, and to my amazement, the plant that produces this popular flower used in cosmetics and perfumes is a low, almost groundcover plant. When appearances are deceiving! 😉 Entry starts from 9.00 and is free.Visited April 2024Traveled soloWritten April 6, 2024

We visited today April 10th there were tons of things in bloom. Make sure to stop in botanic garden to see what is blooming there. Gorgeous park with a lake, zoo, botanical garden, conservatory and biking and running paths. Bathrooms are minimal so plan accordingly.Visited April 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten April 10, 2024
- Johanna d9 contributionsVery good !Too beautiful park! It's really huge, there's a lot to do there. The whole zoo side, the rose garden, the lake tour, the Rosalie, the children's games... Whether with friends or family, it's super pleasant and we can have picnics. Plus, entry is free. I really advise you!Visited April 2024Traveled with familyWritten April 24, 2024
- ge0j0Genval, Belgium850 contributionsFavor the gardens on the “botanical” side: it’s the most beautiful part with all the flowersSeveral parts of the park each with a different interest The greenhouses: closed during our visit: for renovation. The arboretum: very beautiful with all the flowers and trees The park: large paths and lawns The zoo (free access): small enclosures for many animalsVisited April 2024Traveled with familyWritten April 26, 2024
- Hugo F29 contributionsUnmissable in LyonWhat's better than going to this Park when you're on vacation. Everything is gathered in one place between the zoo, the diversity of flowers and trees, the lake and so on... Very clean park with places to sit and eat, enough to spend half a year there. daytime. There are pedal boats for rent on the lake, you can breathe fresh air and a lot of tranquility. I highly recommend it for a day of relaxationVisited June 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten June 6, 2024

Great, wide running paths (no cars…2.5 mile loop), beautiful gardens and a zoo. Directly across the street from the Marriott.Visited June 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten June 23, 2024
- donegan_10110 contributionsGreen lung of LyonThe size of the park is remarkable, so much so that we can spend a whole day both to rest in the public greenery and for the different activities, from botanical areas, to the animals present at the rides, the lake and the guided train. Designed for families and in general for everyone. Also cared for and well managed.Visited July 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten August 25, 2024

A huge parc where you can have a sweet picnic for lunch or see the animals (zebras, giraffes...) in the zoo. There’s also a huge lake where you can do a pedalo (not during COVID). The access to the parc is free and you can even feed the geese and ducks near the lake. It’s perfect for couples and family gatherings.

Wonderful park and outdoor space in Lyon. A sort zoo of all sorts of animals plus horticulture like you've never seen before. Really beautiful and free so how can you heat that. Only thing I'd say is it is missing some signage.

The perfect place for a stroll or a jog. You can see giraffes in a large "plain" enclosure and a small zoo, there's a rose garden and lots of different sculptures. You can rent pedalos on the lake, or stroll through the shady groves of trees. The gates are epic, too.

This was a great find and highly recommended. We didn’t even get to the zoo or tour the botanical gardens, but enjoyed walking around the well maintained, tranquil park. And it has some outstanding paths for running - dozens of runners out there.

We visited here on a day where we had little to do. It is a big expanse of green, containing several floral installations, a lake, a zoo, and other assorted stuff. You can get close using the tram system. We did not visit the zoo, save for passing the giraffe pen. It’s a nice park and you could kill several hours here if you wanted to. Recommended

So much to see and do, we spent a full day wandering around. Knowing nothing of what to expect, we decided to visit as we love botanical gardens. Unlike some, these were entirely on the flat. Resplendent with colour. We avoided the hot houses as the temp outside was about 38C. Fortunately, we had plenty of chilled water with us. Leaving this part of the garden, we were astonished to see the head of a giraffe moving along. We hadn't appreciated the park also contained an open air zoo. We strolled around and stopped for a bite to eat. Afterwards we walked around the large lake and general park area before returning to the botanical area. Boats were available to hire for the lake as were 4 seater pedal bikes for the park. Just one downside, few toilets and of a poor quality. Otherwise, an excellent day out. All for free.

I actually visited in October 2020 but it would not let me choose that far back. The park is large and beautiful. I was absolutely in love with the trees as the bark on their trunk looks like nothing I’ve seen where I live in Canada. Just a small thing but they are smooth and mottled and so they ressemble à watercolour painting. A little train ride is available and a place to buy refreshments. And of course you will come upon the zoo with exotic animals! Spend an entire afternoon walking with your love or your family. Vast and beautiful and quiet. Right in the city. Highly recommend.

I was staying at the Marriott Cite International and decided to go for a walk in the park across the street. Wasn’t expecting much, just wanted some fresh air…but WOW!!!!
The parc contains: a lake, zoo (including giraffes), botanical gardens, lots of wildlife (turtles, flamingos, ducks etc), play area and mini train for the children, countless trails through the woods, and much more!!!!
I’ve been to many beautiful parks in London, Vancouver, New York, Quito, Galápagos etc. Parc de la Tete D’Or ranks with the best!! Don’t miss it.

Great spot with a lot of greenspace. Also, you can rent a boat. We came in the “wrong” entrance and wound up going through the zoo to get to the park. If you have kids with you, the park and zoo would be amazing. As adults only, finding a map to go beyond the zoo was a challenge. Worth a visit.

Last month, I went to see my older brother in Lyon with my family, as it was an unexpected visit, we didn’t plan anything beforehand. However, we wanted to take some fresh air and my brother strongly recommended the « parc de la Tête d’Or ». Unexpectedly, even if they are a lot of people due to its popularity, the place is really calm and silent and you can feel the cool breeze and the refreshing scent of flowers. Indeed, the place is really popular among the citizens and especially families and runners because the park is huge and it takes minimum one hour by walk to visit it. If you’re not local you can feel easily overwhelmed by the distance you need to walk and you’ll feel like you’re in a endless labyrinth. However, the cool fact about that endless park is that it’s divided in different sections and in each sections there is distinct flowerbed and statues. Finally, a lot of people decide to take their marriage pictures there because of the beautiful sceneries in the park and It’s really pleasant to look at and if you plan to marry it could be a cool add to your photobook.
