It was such an incredible experience to visit this area of Lyon. We take the cable car to achieve the top of the mountain and it was so pleasant when we arrive, because of the first view: the basilique notre dame of Fourviere, really amazing.

Great place. Don’t miss the museum if you are interested in in ancient Roman ruins in Gaul. Very well done. Get the audio guide . Take the funicular to get there.

A long steep walk through the Old Lyon Town. Well worth the effort. Picturesque scenes the whole way up. A must.

The church is very similar to Sacre Coeur in Paris. Both were built on hills overlooking the city after the Prussian invasion at the end of the 19th century. Terrific views.

There are no words to describe Fourviere and its suroundings. The cathedral, the museums and the Roman theatre are a must. Be ready to spend half a day. While it's important to take the funicular to go up, ensure to walk back to St Jean.
