Great Views of the City
Jan 2020 • Solo
This is a must do when visiting the Basilica. It has really great views over the city. Nice to take a slow stroll up and down the hill on a day with great weather. Highly recommended.

An enjoyable experience
Aug 2019
We went up to Fourviere Hill using the funicular. It was fun ride. The top of the hill is quite an experience. There are several sights to enjoy, like the Basilique Notre Dame de Fourviere, the ancient Odeon and the old Roman Theatre, as well as others. But what might be the best of all is perhaps the fact that the views of Lyon from the top of the hill are truly spectacular. The views alone would be worth the effort.

Lots to See!
Oct 2019
Going up to Fourviere is well worth it, either via the funicular or by bus/taxi. There is lots to see: the Basilica (which is stunning inside and out) and the Theatre Romains of Lugdunum (Roman ruins of an amphitheater, which is not to miss.) Truly, you have to go up here if you visit Lyon

Nice view
Feb 2020
We went to Lyon earlier this month. Fourviere Hill is an interesting location to go to but not a must see. The walk is good though and the view quite nice. Maybe we would have been more amazed on a sunny day.

Interesting view after a lovely walk
Dec 2019
These hills in Lyon were all capped with interesting shops and history, with lovely views of the city below. The red roofs are in abundance and the view of the big Ferris wheel is nice.

Stunning view on Lyon
Feb 2019
Fourvière Hill is one of the must when visiting Lyon. Might you be lucky you might even see the Mont blanc from the side of the Basilica. The amphitheters and the the museum at walking distance from the basilica are really amazing. The basilica by itself worth spending some time and watching the film on its history.

Beautiful walk, beautiful view and stunning Cathedral
Oct 2019
There are a couple of ways to get here. One way is to walk up near the road, another is to walk up quite a few steps, a third is the funicular which was not working when I was there, and the fourth is a different funicular plus a bus. I took the stairs and then walked through the garden which was beautiful and peaceful. You pass a small grotto with a statue of St Joseph over a little pond. There are more stairs but not as many. When you get to the top, you get a great view of Lyon. Be sure to go into the church. It is jaw dropping beautiful.

Great Views of the City of Lyon
Jan 2019
Fourviere Hill is a great place to visit. The Cathedral of Notre Dame of Lyon, the Roman ruins (i.e., the ancient Roman theatre) and the Roman Archeology Museum are located in the Fourviere Hill area. You will have great views of the city from this area. I was in Lyon September 2018. However, the Trip Advisor system will not allow me to select a date after January 2019.

Spend some time up here at the Basilica and the Roman ruins. There are some great panoramic views of the city next to the Basilica, beautiful on a nice day.
