Picturesque old town where I would have liked to stay longer. Also the new shoppingmall in the city district Perrache looked nice.

Like many old tourist centers when you saw one you've seen them all. Same chain stores like you see all over europe (L'occitane, Cure Gourmande, etc etc). Mediocre and boring ideal for the easy going not demanding average Joe tourist types.

Amazing and vibrant friendly and welcoming city that is currently re-modelling itself. Lots of building work going on. It will be a contrast of ultra modern and the old architecture side by side. Transport is very good with great bus and metro connections. Lots of museums and great restaurants, although, I would avoid the bouchons which,in the main, are just... More

Delightful to wander through these Renaissance streets and drink in the atmosphere, but to really explore the traboules, it helps to have a guide.

We were supposed to quickly go through Lyon but when we fell on Vieux Lyon, we spent a few hours instead. Lovely place.

The old courts and passages (ask for a map at your hotel or the tourist office) are interesting to explore in between the quaint shops and huge variety of restaurants. Look for an authentic Bouchon Lyonnaise when you decide where to eat (nb many close between 2 and 6 pm). Amazing, gourmet prix fixe meals and good affordable wines by... More

The old part of Lyon has a special evironment of narrow and irregular streets full of shops, restaurants and terraces. During weekends and holidays it gets really crowded giving a perfect evironment to enjoy it.

A small area well worth visiting. Take a walk and make sure you look around at the architecture. Walk the Rue St. Jean and visit St Jean Cathedral. Be sure to examine the faces and other carvings on the exterior. They are all interesting and some are quite amusing. Take the easy and quick furnicular up to Fourviere Hill and... More
