Just keep in mind that the cobble stones are common here because of the age. Also, there's a lot of climbing to do if you'd like to visit the cathedrale on top of the hill. The way up is very pretty and I enjoyd it very much. I would suggest to do this on eveningfall. View is very nice and... More

Easily seen from miles around, the visit Inside does not disappoint, although only build 150 years ago this is an impressive building. A two storey cathedral with plenty of space for a quiet prayer or moment of thought. Visits to the roof also possible giving stunning views of Lyon and the surrounding Alpes in the distance. A stroll around the... More

Actually three separate areas together a "protected area" under French law (1962) and later a UNESCO World Heritage Site (1998). It's a pleasure (and sometimes an adventure) to walk the narrow streets and dodge cars to people- and building-watch. There is limited vehicular access to parts of the old town (residents and taxis), but still there many automobiles. There are... More

Vieux Lyon is the old town of Lyon and terrific to stroll around in. The food in the restaurant was terrific and very much Lyonaise type cooking.

As a reasonably experienced but not complacent traveller and, having read some of the previous reviews, I would say there is no reason not to visit "Old Lyon". The urban fabric of 3-4-500 years ago here is relaxing on the eye because in those times old centres evolved and weren't over planned. Elegant as the Presqu'Ile area is between the... More

A nice area to chill around lethargically or to grab a meal or cafe. Lovely old building around. A complete evening or even afternoon can be spend here. The best part is you could see plenty of street musicians.

They have courtyards that are a special feature of this area. They leave a door open so you can walk in and enjoy the inner courtyards through out this district. The courtyards show off stone staircases and water wells.
