I would come back to this hotel a million times. It's dark and historical and moody and luxurious--from the bar to the spa to the rooms to the restaurant. And the staff was so incredibly courteous, in every sense of the word--from directing our car into the restricted roadway to welcoming us to paying our cab fare when its credit... More

We used a paid guide to explore these totally unique passageways in Vieux Lyon and we found ourselves in passageways which we didn't even know existed and heard stories of the past from a very informative guide. Amazing what you can find behind these amazing huge wooden doors.

The hotel is an amazing renovation of 15th century buildings right in the Vieux Lyon. The concierges are friendly and helpful. All the hotel staff are professional and exude an air of calm efficiency. The food is all delicious.

Hotel was fabulous. Rooms were quirky, the freshly baked Madeleine's on arrival delicious! Warm welcome on arrival and nothing too much trouble. The hotel has a team of the most professional concierges we have met on our travels for a long time. A true credit to the hotel. It is centrally placed for all the sights of Lyon and approximately... Probably one of the nicest hotels we have ever stayed in. From the moment the man in the street grabbed our bags and opened the door we were hooked. Both concierges were the best we have dealt with in decades of travelling and check in was simple. The young wait staff in the cafe - Benoit, Timothe and tiphaine were... More

In Lyon's Renaissance district you'll find many of thse "traboules" as well as on Croix Rousse hill.Intended for people carrying silk rolls not to get wet while getting from one place to another.

This is a superb hotel. Not cheap but the best place to stay in Lyon. A palatial courtyard built by Italian merchants. Amazing character and in a brilliant area. Highlights are the spa and the michelin star restaurant with Renaissance degustation menu. The concierge is also legendary.

We went by ourselves; I am not sure that I know what a guide would have added in commentaries. It is interesting to see that people still live there. We were not able to see the apartments for obviuos reasons but the all ways appeared very basic.

Our family of five stayed in an apartment with an adjoining "piazza" room. We had tons of space and the apartment bathroom was the largest we have ever seen in a hotel. Please remember that this hotel was carved out of three sixteenth century homes, so it is a bit quirky. We, however, enjoyed every "quirk" and with a staff... More

Very accommodating and helpful staff. The hotel is beautiful and immaculately kept. The double rooms ( 33 & 32 ) were split levels with the bath/shower in the middle. A bit awkward if you are the shy bashful type. The toilet had a separate room. Personally I found the room a little small for 2 people. My daughter however loved... More
