We hiked the north trail near Ferme Durand, starting and ending near Sassenage, and it was great. But what was best is that you have at least 5-6 good day-trip loops as well as possibilities for through-hiking. Grenoble is a fantastic "home base" for this.

We've just returned from a week spent cycling in the Vercors. It was amazing, the views are stunning, the people very friendly, so much to see. THe roads can be a little challenging driving (google gorges du bourne or Combe laval for pictures!) but perfectly acheivable if you take care. And the views - wow. I'd definitely recommend it as... My husband and I were only in Grenoble for a day and the first thing we decided to do was go to the Parc Naturel Regional du Vercors. The first order of business was to stop at the tourist office and get a map. The parc is huge and if we did not have the map we would still be... More

The Vercors is arguably the best location around Grenoble to go to and enjoy nature and its tranquility. There are lots of fine restaurants around, and always enough to do.

The Parc Naturel Regional du Vercors is a great place to spend an afternoon driving along very scenic roads and stopping at nice villages along it . We followed a map provided by the Tourist Information Office but it could have been just as pleasant just discovering things as we went along !

The Vercors have quickly become our favourite vacation! There is SO much to do here, discover caves: La Grotte de la Coranche, La Grotte de la Luir, take a gondola up to Cote 2000 in Balcon de Villard and hike up the rest of the way to the top of the mountain. Be sure to pull over and take some... More

The Vercors offers first scenic roads (Col du Rousset, Combe Laval) to access it. Then, from West to East quiet forests and high pastures give place to a semi-desertic high and wind swept plateau, ending in vertical cliffs. To cross it North to South by foot (from Lans en Vercors to Col du Rousset) requires physical preparation, time, suitable outdoor... More

If you are in the area you should make time to drive around the winding roads and take in the magnificent views.
