The best bike store in Chamonix! The staff is incredible and their bikes are mechanically sound. We had one probably with one of the bikes and we stopped back in, and they immediately fixed the issue. They really care that you have a great experience with their bike and the riding experience in Chamonix! Thanks again guys!

Visiting Chamonix during the summer we visited the Legend bike shop to rent a couple of bikes for the day. After travelling to Le Tour (a half hour bus ride away), and attempting to ride one of the bikes down the fire trail (nothing too extreme) we realised the rear brakes weren’t working very well. Throughout the course of the day they went from not working very well to not working at all. One of the members of our group is very bike proficient so tried his best with the limited tools he had with him to fix it but was unable to.
Upon return to Legend we let the mechanic know and he rode the bike around the courtyard a few times. We were unhappy that we had been supplied with a bike that was unsafe and wanted to enquire about getting some sort of discount. Before we were even able to ask, the member of staff inside the shop had a bad attitude - the mechanic had clearly told him what we’d said and he thought we were after causing some sort of trouble. He proceeded to argue with us very loudly and even made us leave the shop to continue the argument with him outside. During the course of the discussion he spoke in French about us to one of his colleagues, not realising that one of our group spoke French and could understand what he was saying and that it was rude. They were very reluctant to even attempt to understand the issue we had experienced and went so far as to blame us for riding the bike when it was unsafe, even though it was them that had given it to us in that condition.
Eventually they reluctantly wrote off the payment for the bike, which we were happy with, until we realised they hadn’t refunded any of our deposits so had gotten more than the money for the bike anyway. After the rude and embarrassing exchange we had encountered with them we didn’t want to go back to fight our case anymore. By this point, it wasn’t about the money, it was about the fact they had supplied us with an unsafe piece of equipment, which meant that a member of our group took multiple falls, even once simply coming to a stop on a flat pavement surface.
I would say the safety issue with the bike was probably an isolated incident, but combining this with the way it was handled by the staff I would recommend finding somewhere else to rent a bike from in Chamonix.

My chain snapped in the middle of the ride in the hills above les Houches, which meant that I had to walk a long way and come back on the train. When I returned the bike, the assistant was not interested in my experience whatsoever and just wanted to know which card I wanted to use to pay. When I explained that that I was not happy, he started implying that I must have damaged the chain overnight, which was 'out of order' because I stored the bike in the safe and secure place. He offered €4 discount after he inflated the price by €4. I politely pointed out that this was not right at which point I was offered €5 and told 'you happy now'. I explained this is not just about the money. The assistant explained that he was very busy and that the bikes are serviced to a high standard and that it must have been 'me' who was at fault. I was very disappointed because the guys were pretty cool when we hired the bikes the day before. The Legends was also recommended to me in the first place.

We rented e-bikes and they have 3 different types to rent; city, hard tail and full suspension. We rented the hard tails. All the bikes they rent are less than 2 years old and our were in very good shape. The batteries lasted all day and everything worked. We wanted to rent for 3 hours and the return time fell within their midday closed period (lunch break) and they agreed to come by and check us in or let us keep them until they got back. The helmets were clean and in good shape as well.
Pros:
Excellent condition of bikes
A large inventory of bikes, we counted at least 20 e-bikes
Good location in town
Good service
Limited paperwork or renting hassle
Cons:
Didn't supply locks

My friend and I rented road bikes -- carbon, late model. Quick and easy set up -- they have everything you need from helmets to different kinds of pedals/clips as well as locks and repair kit -- and good recommendations for routes around the valley.

LEGEND'CHX CHAMONIX rents fantastic-quality VTTs and road bikes, will deliver and pick up at your door, and even got a new kind of dual pedal (platform + clip in) at our request. Nice guys, too.
VTT is very popular in the area. Many trails, but beware: some are extremely difficult, even off lifts.
You can bike down the valley then use Travis to return.
My only criticism isn’t specific to this store: prices are high in this area and you won’t find cheap bikes here.

I have just been scammed out of €54 by these guys. Took a bike out for a trial. paid the rental price, then went to buy the bike only to be told it wasn't actually for sale. When I complained, instead of trying to rectify the situation they told me I should buy a different bike, that it was all my fault and that I was behaving like a 12 year old boy.
I will never be setting foot in this store again.

Very helpful staff, had a fantastic time riding the bike trails around Chamonix in the snow, the bikes were excellent and I don't think we pushed them anywhere near their limits! If you are a bit scared of the inclines then get an e-bike. One of the highlights of our week in Chamonix!

We hired six bikes the day before we needed them! All the staff were friendly and helpful. The bikes were in good condition. Good communication by email. Would highly recommend.

great shop for bicycles of all types, and accessories.
we rented a couple of mountain bikes - they were in great shape, you also get a lock and a repair kit - no extra charge. the price was 24 Euro each, for a 6 hour rent.
the staff was very nice, gave us a map and some helpful tips.
I would highly recommend using their rental service in the future.

Hello Legend Bike Shop, We're in town for the Mont Blanc marathon next Sunday and would like to have an easy cycle around the valley on Friday (6/23) morning. We're a group of 4 adults. What time is the "valley discovery" ride Friday (6/23)? Do we need to reserve in advance?
Thanks, Becky Layton
