We have been to Lac Blanc many times, usually from the Index as height is gained on the chair lift rather than walking. This year it was fab weather so extremely busy, people like ants. The paths back towards the cable car give amazing view fo Mont Blanc--a memory to sooth the heart on grotty winter days.

This place is a detour of our TMB hike. It was a bid challenging to get here starting from Trient, but the view is really worth all the efforts we put in. This is probably the best place to see Mont Blanc with the mountains clearly reflected in the lake water when it is calm. It is worth to spend... More

The hike up to Lac Blanc took one and a half hours and was well worth the effort. The path was steep in places (normal for the terrain in this area) but was clearly marked and would present no difficulty for regular walkers. We took advice and avoided the weekend "heavy traffic" so enjoyed the views and the magnificent reflections... More

This hike started from the top of the Index lift, and we loved the whole hike. There is a small restaurant/cafe at the lake which is a nice option for lunch.

Start early to avoid crowds. Sit on the rock above the refuge and watch the clouds change. We hiked up on a fogged in morning, sat on the rock and waited 3 minutes while all the clouds lifted and we were treated to a full view of the area. Beautiful lake, incredible views. All breathtaking!

We got lucky with a sunny day today. Perfect weather. Unsurpassed views of surrounding mountains, People on the trail are courteous and friendly. There is a chalet on the top there which we did not expect. The water from the lake is potable. A beautiful glacial lake. Try to go early.

Scenery just out of this world. We took the cable car to Flegere from where we took a chair lift to index and then hiked for about one and a half hour to Lac Blanc. It was a hot day but there was snow and ice on the way. The walk is strenuous but absolutely worthwhile once you arrive at... More

Hiked up to Lac Blanc as a detour while on the TMB leg from Argentieres/Tre Le Champs. It's worth the extra leg power as the views are out of this world. It is incredibly busy however - it was impossible to get a picture without at least a dozen other people in - but it was still worth the visit... More

Can do this hike from Flegere lift, but it's more fun to hike up from Argentiere (trail starts pretty much next to the main bus stop) as not so busy. 3 1/2 hours, with a little easy scrambing and a ladder climb towards the end, brings you to Lac Blanc - far side of which provides one of the best...
