Chamonix has a real aura about it. The landscape is amazing and the views are spectacular. This walk is definitely worth doing if you have time. A train will take you to the glacier and from there it is all on foot to the man made ice caves to see the carvings. If you are a bit unsteady walking, then... More

This was my best skiing experience ever. We had a guide for a day, went up to Aiguille de Midi and it was 2 meter new fresh snow in the beginning of April. It took us about 5 hours to go down the whole way to Chamonix. But it was a magnificent day

Catch the train from Chamonix, if you buy a day pass for Aiguille du Midi it's included, 20 minutes later you are at the station. A gondala ride takes you downb to where the glacier was in 1985, but not anymore, a further 400+ steps takes you down to it's current location. Once there you can walk into the ice... More

Beautiful valley with amazing views, shame that the glacier it melting... It was worth hiking from the middle part of Aiguille du Midi plus the views on the way were stunning as well.

Beautiful place, but very crowded (of course). Signs on the mountain wall make us very clear how fast the glaciers are melting. Beware!!

So much to see here. The little gondola cable car takes you to the ice cave, but as the glacier is melting s quickly there is a walk from this to the cave via many steps - but it is worth it.

The place and view up there is super amazing! Must wear comfy shoes and be ready for the almost 500 steps down and up To go to the amazing ice cave. Make your camera ready and enjoy

wonderful views but sad to see how far the glacier has retreated. Almost a 1/10th of what it used to be

...that the level of the glacier is going down every year. It was worth the walk down the 400-odd stairs to make us understand how quickly the ice is melting
