Enjoy history and glaciology It takes about twenty minutes to climb the 1,000 metres up to the Montenvers-Mer de Glace attraction. Simply hop on board the famous little red railway train. Time will stand still, and you’ll enjoy this vintage method...more

THe ride is well worth the $22.50 For that you get to see the tunnel through the galcier and the gondola ride down to it. Beautiful blue ice within the glacier itself. Train ride has nice views. Food up the top is limited.

We have been at La Mer de Glace at the end of October 2010. The ice cave was closed but the ticket was the same price as normal. The tiny crystal show and Alpine museum is a bit disappointing. The only compensation is the view...More

A train takes you up to the glacier. Very unusual experience but so so cold. The 32 round trip is a bit pricey. But the cable cars road was closed due to stone fall, so we had no options. Hit chocolate in a small kiosk...More

A bit overrated to me as the glacier currently is very receding. Unless you take some hikes there, you cannot really see the glacier. I have mixed feelings about this experience.

This was an amazing trip, on the train up to it and seeing the glacier was superb. It’s amazing how it has melted over the years. Would recommend.

We took this train ride so that we can see, not only the glacier but the ice cave carved into it. After arriving with the train, we discovered that we had to take a cable car down to the start of hundreds of stairs to...More

Thrilling ride on rack railway, followed by cable car (price included) then walk down interminable long corridors interrupted by numerous flights of stairs to get down and down to where the glacier has receded. After visiting the cave inside the glacier (shivering cold) we made...More

Train journey from Chamonix was spectacular. You then have the option of a cable car down to the cave. However, there are a further 500 steps to climb down, and back! The galcier is diminishing by the year, so if you want to see it...More

Ride was good. But would avoid this place in end September /October. Reason being it is very dry and no greenery. There is no snow. The major attraction like the ice caves were also closed.
