Good start for a "lift to lift hike"

Go up to the mid station and take a trail to Brevent. The trail from Flegere to Brevent is quite easy, 2 hours for normal walkers, almost no elevation difference. Amazing views of... read more

This is a busy cable car, popular for going to Lac Blanc. It is a lovely setting. There is a cafe and seating area at the top with amazing views.

The cable car itself is maybe not all that exciting but I give it 5 stars because you can do the Grand Balcon Sud hike starting from here to Planpraz. If you have a multipass, the lift up to L'Index is a nice little sidetrip too. We went in August and there were tons of wild blueberry bushes along the... More

A totally different view from that of the "du Midi" but in someways equally as beautiful. Buy a multiple day pass and be sure to take this car to the top. We watched paragliders prepare and take off. We watched climbers practicing self arrest with ice axes, and we saw the incredible beauty of the mountain.

Excellent views on the Mont Blanc and the Mer de Glace from La Flégère. Fast, easy, and you are far above the crowd of Chamonix.

Very nice, somewhat smaller, téléphérique. First leg offers you access to many hikes. Upper part is more oriented towards skiing and true alpinism, but puts you right in some snow in the middle of summer. Nice for kids.

We enjoyed this lift immensely! The views at the top are amazing & the options for where to go once you get to the top are endless. My husband and I were not really equipped for serious walking but we thought we woud set out for Lac Blanc anyway (2hr 45mins according to the signpost). we walked for well over... More

We hiked to the cable car from Chamonix, approx. 1/2 hour. There is a tree covered pathway from the center of town, along a wonderful stream that makes for a very pleasant hike. The cable car ride was fine but the views at the top were outstanding. We used the snack bar at the top and hike on up the... More

This is the cable car to take to the beginning of the Lac Blanc trail. The views are stunning but most importantly the crowds here are much much smaller compared to the Auguille de Midi. Thus, getting on the lift is a much speedier process. The Lac Blanc hike is incredible and I'd highly recommend it!

Flegere was a brilliant cable car accessible experience which provided a different view of Mont Blanc and surrounding area. Food and drink was far less than Aiguille du midi. Index can also be accessed on an open air gondola which is the only one I believe open in the summer months. This allows a higher acces to achieve a different... More
