This is my favourite lift for hiking in Chamonix. It takes you up from the base in Les Praz de Chamonix to a midpoint on the south-facing side of the valley. From here you can walk across the valley at various heights, up to points...More

After taking this cable car you can walk back to Planpraz. Stunning views but don't take any notice of the guide time in the guide books. 2 1/2 hours, not 1 1/2 as shown.

Ca. 2 hours from Index top station to Lac Blanche. Easy hiking in good weather, dodgy in fog, so always check the "meteo".

Excellent very views of Chamonix and the alps from the top cable car station. It was quick busy with mountain bikers and hikers quickly filled the cable car.

If you want to visit Lac Blanc it is the only speedy way. I totally disagree with some other reviews regarding the speed of the cable car. If somebody does not like the speed he should try his feet.

Beautiful way to see an amazing vista. 5 min ride to the top! Unfortunately, we couldn't ride it down due to wind and time constraints on our part, so we walked back down. Took over an hour.

I gave this cable car station 4, rather than 5 stars because the queue was very long and went slow. During the busy morning rush, (we were there around 10:30 a.m.), they need to open more lines, or have a way to process people faster....More

Great lift to hiking trails. Ticket vendors speak English, French, and German. Go early as crowds form quickly - but not as bad as the Mont Blanc side.

We took the cable car to Flegere and onward chair lift to l'Index before walking back to Chamonix. The Mont Blanc pass is useful giving access over a number of days although for us personally it may have been better just to have the option...More

If staying in Chamonix, the Flegere cable car is a short 10 minute bus ride to valley floor station. Our pass was included in the two day pass which we purchased from the visitor center kiosk. Once to the top of the Le Flegere station,...More

Does anyone know the answer to this? We will be there in August and were hoping to book ahead of time online, but I'm not finding anything.

So I know for sure you can get a pass on line. You need to look at the Chamonix cable car website. compagniedumontblanc if it is open then look at the site. Enjoy the place. I love going there!
