Really enjoyed our afternoon in Chamonix. We visited the Alpine Museum too which was excellent. We stopped for a drink in Bar du Moulin and then ended up having pizzas in an Award winning restaurant which actually runs 5 day cookery courses. The pizzas were lovely, but can't remember the name of the restaurant, sorry!

Just walking around after a day of activity - then sitting and enjoying a lovely meal outdoors with a fantastic glass of local wine...sound enticing - it is exactly what we did in May - and loved every second of it.

I have visited Chamonix twice in the past 2 years, once in winter ski season and this august. Its such a different place in the different seasons. I prefer the winter it was such a picturesque place, charming and lively. In summer, it lost its charm, though still lively but crowded. Definitely postpone your visit till winter , you won't... Immediately coming into town you can tell it is a ski town. I guess to be more specific, an outdoor town. Outside of the winter activities, there is a lot to do in this town. Plenty of hiking trails around and sports stores for any supplies you will need. It is one of the booger size ski towns we saw... More

SO much to do and so littel time. Highly recommended place to base yourself to explore the area. Lots of activites, plenty of exciting things to do and exually lots of places to relax and unwind. The shopping is also excellent, mostly sports and mountain gear but some lovely littel boutiques too. There are plenty of supermarkets in the town... More

We spent a week in Chamonix, exploring up and down the valley, and up and down the mountains! All I can say is that it is beautiful & serene- don't forget your walking boots!

The sight is great for a family visit! We have enjoyed it much, and will sure visit again in a different weather to have a new experience as well. Some tips: 1) try to park your car as close as you can to the sight, search for "grepon chamonix" 2) the lines are busy towards noon, try to come earlier... More

Cute stroll thru the village which is the coolest during winter. Some branded shops but mostly sport and winter clothing. As you are in Haute Savoie cheese Fondue is a must.

I have been to Chamonix a number of times as a base for climbing but the most recent visit was the first time I had visited in August. It seemed like there was many more tourists compared to even July. Something needs to be done about the amount of traffic and cars I think to make it more pleasurable to... More
