There is a surprising amount of interesting things to be discussed regarding the area, where intrepid explorers and hikers converged more than a century ago. Fun and tastefully done in a lovely old building.

It was the last thing we did before we leave from Chamonix. We are very sorry. We should have been the first day. For sure we would have visited the museum more than once. The lady at the office is very kind and friendly.

Spent about one and one-half hours at this interesting museum. Lots of good tidbits about mountaineering in the area. Maps and photos were great. This feels like a museum that could do very well by expanding existing exhibits and adding more old photos, etc. Not...More

We spent almost two hours on a rainy day at this museum. The history of alpinism is well presented and it involves science, art and everyday life in the valley and mont blanc. Kids loved it too. Don't miss it.

I visited the museum alone, as I was waiting for a transfer. Reasonable entry fee, and friendly desk staff. (Plus somewhere to store my outdoor coat and bag.) Plenty of exhibits to interest the curious mind, from skis, clothing, dioramas and paintings, to postcards, models...More

A good morning or afternoon visit. Interesting to see how they dressed way back then to climb the mountains.

The staff were friendly and notified us when the film was about to start. The film about Chamonix from the 1900 to 1950's was very entertaining and all of the exhibits were enthralling. We have so much admiration for the pioneers of Alpinism.

We chose to do this on our only rainy day in Chamonix and it was a bit busier than usual, but still worth the trouble. Not all exhibits are in English. A nice size with things of interest to anyone visiting the region. Priced right!

Some nice paintings but not much more. The artifacts are only labeled in French and few in number and of middling quality. Wouldn't bother to go. They need to seriously up the ante. They have the space!
