An easy drive from Annecy and a great view. There is a great place to eat once you get there, Hotel Les Rocher

I've run the Semnoz mountain quite a few times and keep coming back. There are both pros and cons, but for a runner fond of hilly trails, visiting beautiful Annecy, the Semnoz should probably be your number one choice. The bad: the many, many trails are badly marked, making it tricky to find a specific route. Often, the steep parts... More

In the Summer: great for hiking and paragliding. With a VIEW on the turquoise lake of Annecy. Cycling enthusiasts get a sense of what the Tour de France is about. Some would want some of that "stuff" to get up on it as well :-). A nice summer sledge installation for those with kids. A couple of restaurants for a... More

Visiting Annecy for the last 16 years we ventured to Semnoz for the first time this year. The drive was not as difficult as I anticipated ( it was for the cyclists !) and was amazed by the views towards Mont Blanc and Aix-Les-Bains. There are a number of good walks , some not too difficult to other viewing points.... More

Great detour from the beaten path! If coming from the south take the route through Thoiry and Lescheraines for a lovely alpine drive. If you exit north you can end up in Annecy for lunch. Or just do the reverse. The white rock soil part way up is in stark contrast to the grey rock so prominent in this area... More

We took a bus from bus stop 11 at Annecy station up to Semnoz, for 6 euros return (and this included special mountain bike transport should this be required). The views from the top were amazing. However, on the brochure it implied that there would be views of the Lac d'Annecy but there weren't. However, if you looked in the... More

This was recommended to us for the views and we were not disappointed. Great for cycling and at the top nice views. The road is narrow and windy. Worth the trip up

Beautiful area with stunning views of Annecy and le bourget lake. Just take a small walk to enjoy the views or even the paragliding. We spent 2 nights with the camper and couldn't ask for better spot. Cows and goats with their bells, farms selling cheese and you could see the milking if you get there on time around 16.00... More

We took our children to the top of Semnoz - by car. It is a really family-friendly mountain, since you can drive all the way up, do a beautiful easy hike and have a picninc in the middle of the French alps.
