Excellent castle! Went for a couple of hours with my gf and her mum. Particularly liked the way the castle is used as a museum to exhibit the great history, art, aquatic life and other great things that Annecy has to offer. Definitely worth a visit whether it is too hot outside or on a rainy day!

Interesting for those who are interested in medieval castles. Stark interior, limited furnisture (like most French cacstles after the Revolution. On the day I went, there were a few exhibitions by the local cultural society. Good view of the roofs of Annecy.

The chateau museum had an art exhibition, which wasn't my kind of art. The chateau itself is quite interesting, but I have been to many better ones in the Loire. There are some lovely paintings and some old furniture in the permanent part of the exhibition, which were much more interesting. And there is a separate museum about the Lac... More

The museum, it should be firmly noted, has nothing to do with the castle. I had read this in several places, along with comments, along with others that claim the only reason to visit the castle is for its views. I must confess that the views from the castle, especially towards the old town and the lake, are limited, at... More

Excellent for a wet day. Approx 7 Euros for the Castle and the Prison and any exhibtions. Well worth it.

Interesting pieces of art here. Take some time to enjoy this visit. Also, what caught my attention was some pictures of mermaids and mermaid bones, discovered by the lake. Part of the story is true, part of it is fiction, but very interesting anyway.

A very interesting Chateaux with great exhibitions and interesting architecture. I did reads few TripAdvior reviews after our visit but was quite surprised because I didn't have the negative experiences as listed. I did not expect a furnished castle because the literature clearly states that after a time of disrepair the building was made a museum in the 1950s. It... More

As we had limited time we only visited the second part of the Musee; thinking the former prison might be interesting for our teenage and adult kids. Well, we went through the whole thing and all there was were pictures and descriptions of the development of Annecy. There was really nothing interesting about the history or the people here! I... We went on a holiday to Switzerland, and it was suggested by a travel agent in Switzerland, to take a short drive into France, to see the Chateau in Annecy. I am so glad we took his advice! It was just amazing to decend down the cobbled streets into the low set town! The quaint OLD buildings were fascinating. Restuarants... More
