The castle is impressive; it is really worth seeing if you travel in France. The building itself is already a piece of art and it becomes even more when you get inside. The last owner of the castle collected bits and pieces from everywhere in the world and kept them in the traditional way of the XIXe century. In accordance... More

Perfectly situated on the Outskirts of Annecy in Countryside the Building is like Time Stood Still and well worth visit, my first visit we were greeted by an elderly lady who looked as if she had been mothballed and only comes out to greet visitors, She has probably passed on now as no sign of her -

Unfortunately, we arrived a few minutes late to take the last guided tour, but were able to wander the grounds, which are beautiful. The chateau has commanding views on all sides and the outside is well maintained. There are three or four major chateaux in the Annecy region. I'm glad we were able to visit this one, even if we... We only sighted the chateau from the boat (tour of Lac Annecy). We didn't go inside. It is a very impressive Chateau in an incredibly picturesque setting.

The drive to the Chateau was beautiful. The view of the Chateau from a far is very impressive. We visited the Chateau grounds after seeing the gorge. The Chateau was closed but the gardens were open (for free) and we walked around the outside of the Chateau and looked over the countryside from the gardens. Seeing the outside of the... More

Spend time doing something else and don't go there! My friend and I were visiting Annecy and went to the Gorge de Fier and the Chateau. The Gorge was great but when we arrived at the Chateau for the tour, the woman behind the counter at the entrance (gift shop) was on the phone for 17 minutes (we counted). We... More

The french don't want the world to know about it....There is no desire to accommodate non-french speakers. They hand you this binder with a few words in english for each room, while the old geezer guide tells you this will not be very interesting for you, then talks a lot and makes jokes for the french audience. It makes you... More

Oh my goodness. What to do on a rainy day near Annecy? Well, unless you are a fluent French speaker and DON'T have children with you, give this Chateau a miss. There is an amazing collection of artefacts from all over the world, but the extremely limited info available in English and the cramped displays do not do it justice.... More

The place is perfect but the excursion is not accompanied by English translation. The number of visiting rooms is very limited so you have to rely on your fantasy.
