An amazing structure that was so bright because of the reflection of the sun off its while stone that I battled to get a worthwhile photo. The interior is well cared for and really beautiful, although the outside has absolutely no garden or lawn of any sort - a few trees, but nothing else.

Lovely big church-good stained glass windows telling story of the 2 saints it was built for. Leaflet in English (and lots of other languages) for 30c explained it well. Best view I found was from the car park ... Otherwise there seemed to be trees in the way. I even walked right around a perimeter wall up loads of steps... More

Not only a beautiful basilica, it had hand outs in several languages that told about the basilica and explained the mosaic behind the sacristy as well as told the story of Saint Francis de Salle and Saint Jane de Chantel that are depicted in the stained glass along both sides of the church. On a hot day it was very... More

This basilica was the home church for Francois de Sales and Jeanne de Chantal founders of the Order of the Visitation. This baroque style building formerly had statues on its facade. This church was also the original burial place for both of them. Relics are still found here. The grounds also provide stunning views of Annecy, with the lake and... More

A nice church on top of the hill of Annecy facing and dominating the lake... A beautiful observation point to admire the landscape and the area..

If you get a chance, take a wander up to this beautiful cathedral. I was not able to go inside, but it is a really great cathedral to see. Also provides a nice view of Annecy. Behind the cathedral are a couple trails in the woods (not sure what this area is called), so bring hiking shoes if you're up... More

Yes, there is a massive walk up to the Basilique, and if you're not particularly fit (like me!) then you'll struggle. But once there, you are treated to the very beautiful site of this comely 1920s church. Like so much of Annecy, it's in a peaceful location, and it is lovely inside with contemporary stained glass windows. Not a must-see,... More

The Basilique is on a dominant position just out of the Vieux Ville of Annecy. The building itself is not particurly interesting from the architectonical point of view, but tells the story of St. Francesco di Sales. The nearby small museum (free entry) dedicated to the Saint is quite interesting. All in all, a nice walk if you not in... More
