Hike & History in Ollioules: Medieval Village in Provence Tour

Not many people know about the old medieval village of Ollioules and even less know that from the village there is direct access to the fabulous ridge of the Gros Cerveau mountains (Big Brain). Only locals know the trails.

We will start with a visit to the old medieval village penetrating the small alleyways discussing the glorious history of Ollioules. We will observe houses, fountains, olive oil mills, and time permitting - a quick visit to the 130 year old nugat factory! Every corner is photo op. A vertiable village in provence experience, far far from the tourist trail.

We will start to climb slowly up to the old chateau where glorious views of the bay below will mesmerize us. We will continue climbing up and taking an old well marked trail to the plateau of Gros Cerveau. From there we have incredible views of old fortresses, the gorges of Ollioules and the entire bay of Toulon. Must see. Not in any guidebook.

This charming seashore consists of four seashores, which are adjacent to each other. You can enjoy the beautiful sea here, lie down and enjoy the sun or walk around the many shops and restaurants that adorn the coastline.

The beaches here are artificial, but that doesn’t stop people from enjoying them. They are quite sheltered form the wind, and the water seems fairly clean. There is plenty of space for all kinds of water activities. A promenade runs all the way along the beaches to the sailing club, and beside this there are places to relax on the grass under the trees, a skate park for the younger ones, food vans and restaurants. There is a large - free - carpark here.

We hopped an uber to the Mourillon beaches on our cruise ship stop. Nice intro to Mediterranean beaches. We found a spot pretty easily and plopped down. Be aware that this is a European beach and some folks who got it . . . flaunt. There were lots of families with kids. The beach we were on was pretty sheltered and was extremely calm. There is food available. There are bathrooms too. To about 15 minutes to get an uber back to the boat. I would recommend this beach.
