Cours d'Estienne d'Orves is a huge public square near the old port of Marseille. It can be a little quiet but it can also be extremely busy and noisy as we found out. There are numerous cafes and restaurants in this square and plenty of outdoor seating. We wanted to sit and have a cup of coffee but we must have been there at the wrong time, because we were unable to do either. We walked around and just enjoyed the atmosphere. An interesting place to visit, but it depends on individual taste.

Quite a large square but quiet as not to much to do. Some shops and galleries but you could walk through and miss it

This place is a very charming square. It seems maybe a little bit dead by day, as it is very large and not a place we pass through. But you can find aroung several art galleries and some interesting shops in the street just behind (rue sainte, with Carrhart, a nice second-hand clothes shop and Kothaî). Nice bars are to be found on the square, and between 10pm and 2 (until they close) it's quite crowded and the atmosphere is cool, without cheesy music and with interesting people.
