Just happen to fall on this place while walking, kind of strange place but after talking to people, we better understood the historical significance of this street. Not sure I would have made a detour to see it but happy we did.

It is a quick walk through these tunnels and not much to rave about, just nice to see. some people have spray painted things on the walls which spoils it a bit.

Hidden below main street of the old town is a street that has a barrel vaulted roof with doors off on left and right but entirely below ground perfectly safe and, I think, unique

One can only imagine the interesting history of this place. Because there is no information there to bring it to life. It is easy to get to and worth doing for the 5 minutes it takes to say you have seen it.

Classic mediterranean harbour town back alley with tunnel beneath the buildings ! These towns were built on hillsides with space at a premium .

Just pop through an arch at the harbour between two restaurants and you start on the upward journey. Travel up and you will find cross streets. The top of which has the local shops.

I am not disputing the historical significance of Rue Obscure and it is different but should not be a listed as an attraction.

If you are ever in or near Villefranche, go downto the harbor and check out this obscure little historic street under the buildings. It will remind you of Pirates of the Carribeanat Disneyland! While you are there, check out the many other things like the...More

It is a nice walk in Villefranche sur mer to see this old street and also the rest of the old town. Not far from the beaches.
