We stayed on the outskirts of Vence. It was only a short walk away. The town itself has character , a mixture of restaurants, bakeries and shops. Only a small little village however nice to have a stroll around. There is also a bus station in the town which is good and cheap to use

Vence is a totally great experience. This visit we were there almost a month. Lots of wonderful surprises as you walk through the maze of streets. Lots of great eateries, shops and sites. Calm and restful without being boring. Use this ancient spot as a base for driving to Saint Paul de Vence, Tourrettes sur loup, Nice, and the many... More

The drive to the old town is not that nice. Sins of the 70' and 80' have left their ugly marks. However, once you reach the old town you will not be disappointed. Personally I find Vence as charming and interesting, particularly as it is a truly lived in city with real shops and a farmers market. It's origins dates... More

Vence is one of my favorite French towns in the South. People live here, it is not a French Disney experience, such as St. Paul de Vence, nor is it the hoity-toity Cannes. This is a delightful real village with a charming medieval center, lovely views and a quaint market day.

Most of the tourists head for St. Paul. Vence hasn't been yuppified like some other towns (Valbonne comes to mind). This is a fine place to settle in for the day, a week or longer. There is plenty of atmosphere, congenial people and a small town vibe. There are ex-pats here, but they haven't taken over the place.

Lots of buildings dating from mediaeval period. Loads of character, and lots of blind alleys worth looking into. The whole place is smalll but repays a thorough wander.

We visited on market day - albeit the latter was very disappointing, very small with not enough variety. However, the town is very attractive and the tourist map/info sheet is the best we have found - all the sites are clearly marked and have information plaques to read when the location is found. The restaurants are diverse and of very... More

It's a medieval fabulous village full of little corners where is nice to get lost and take pictures. Instagrammer can get crazy! Squares and fountains and art galleries. This is Vince when you just add Cafes and restaurants. People are friendly and you feel safe, which is nor secondary nowadays.

Vence did not impress me too much in compare with other towns or villages of Provence. Small area of old town and center. Nothing memorable and everything closes very early, nothing to do and see after 6pm. Other part of city is modern and contemporary and very close to old part. You can cross old town for less than 1... More
