We had been told that the boat provides a good way to see Cap d’Antibes with its grand hotel and private villas, but not to expect too much in terms of seeing undersea life. Perhaps we were lucky to choose a day when the water was particularly clear, with bright sunlight shining through the shallows, for we saw a huge variety of fish. The boat stopped and then moved around slowly for about 15 minutes in what was known by the crew to be a good place to view the fish. The total trip lasts around an hour. One caveat. The boat will only go out if there are at least 8 passengers. Probably not a problem in the summer but off season it is quite likely that some sailings will be cancelled (after you’ve hung around for 20 minutes waiting to see if enough people turned up). This happened on our first attempt to take the trip – a bit disappointing but the company did give us a ‘rain check’ pass so one of us could travel free on another sailing.
