It took Baroness Béatrice Ephrussi de Rothschild, one of the most original women on the French Riviera, seven years to build one of the most beautiful sites on the Côte d’Azur. An enlightened art enthusiast who travelled back and forth across France and Europe, Béatrice de Rothschild built up an incomparable and eclectic collection of masterpieces: priceless Sèvres and Vincennes porcelain, works by Fragonard, paintings by the masters (Boucher, Carpaccio, Tiepolo, etc.), Louis XVI furniture, and so on.

Right size for one hour's visit. Both garden and especially the villa are worth a quick tour, the views are awesome. Nonetheless expensive.

I'm no botanist by any measure but I had a very pleasant walk in the gardens. The beautiful villa is almost shadowed by the things you find in the surroundings. If you're visiting from Nice, there's the bus line 81 running between Promenade des Arts and Port Sain-Jean. The closest stop is called "Passable / Rothschild", it's about 300 meters... More

The villa itself is gorgeous and the gardens are nice--if you're into that sort of thing. The artwork inside the villa alone is worth the visit, and it's an interesting snapshot into this lady's life. They go on and on about how interesting and amazing this Rothschild broad was, and all I kept thinking was about how easy it is... More

We took the 81 bus to the villa from Promenade des Arts. The bus journey itself is pretty, and the villa and gardens are lovely - lots of beautiful things to see, an engaging audio guide and walks and seats that invite slow meandering walks and gazing out to sea over the bays below. We ate in the cafe, which... More

Magnificent palazzo and unbelievably gorgeous gardens located in beautiful St-Jean-Cap-Ferrat. We had originally planned on spending just a couple hours here, but were so overwhelmed with the beauty that we spent the day. It was easy to get to coming from Nice. We got on the 81 bus in Nice and got off at Passable/Rothschild on Cap Ferrat, crossed the... More

We came here because one of our party had read about it and I''m so glad we did. It's perched high up on Cap Ferrat about a 20 minute bus journey from Nice but well worth it. The garden is extremely well kept and the views from the villa are incredible with amazing views all around. We arrived at lunchtime... More

Interesting house with unusual history, complemented by lovely gardens, even if not all out in February. Well worth a walk.

Tender in early in the morning. Taxi to Villa cost 10 Euro's per couple. Built in the early 1900's an awesome insight into old world wealth. Views of the Med are well worth the trip to her villa and gardens!!!!!! This is a must see and do in Ville-France!

Very beautiful house and grounds. The fountains outside have dancing waters and play music – – a smaller version of the Bellagio fountains in Las Vegas. Definitely a must see if you are in the area.
