Go and see and imagine. The fade colors are proof of a once very nicely and richly decorated little church in the heart of old town nizza. a moment of tranquil reflection in an otherwise busy city (especially in summer). a nice little hideaway.

I would have loved to visit this church as it is very beautiful building on the outside and glimpses through open windows give a tantalizing flavour of the treasures inside. I hope to see inside when we next visit Nice.

At the eastern end of Cours Saleya is the Chapella de la Misericorde (Chapel of Mercy) which belongs to a lay fraternity, the Black Penitents. The chapel is only open for three and a half hours on Tuesday afternoons so we were unable to visit the interior which is said to be a fine Baroque interior.

The outside of the Chapelle de la Misericorde (Chapel of Mercy) isn’t stunningly beautiful, but the inside sure is. Constructed in the mid-1700s, this Baroque beauty is justifiably billed as one of the very best examples of its kind in all of France. A sign on the building gives credit for the recent restoration of the building’s façade to the... More

The main issue with this chapel is trying to find out the opening times. We had been told that it was only open on Tuesdays so arrived at Cours Saleya about 11.30am on Tuesday morning to find it closed. I asked a local on the market abut the opening times and he came over with me to read the information... More

They don't want you to visit here, Thats a fact. Hence why the opening hours are so little. Its not that nice from the outside. I visited on a wednesday so of course it was closed. Now I have read previous reviews I won't bother going back.

So sad that even with three full days in Nice we couldn't get in to see this church as, others have said, is only open Tuesdays. The outside is pretty.

Your plan for Nice must include time for this apparently stunning church. We were not able to go in, as the church is open one day a week, for eight hours. If you find people celebrating mass inside, I would not hesitate to take a peek inside! The church is worth at least a peek inside. We were not able... More

I searched the web for opening times in french and english before setting out to Nice. The best I could find was 1000-1800 Tuesdays only - great it was Tuesday. When we got to the door a tatty bit of paper informed us not open July & August. For what is supposed to be one of the most stunning churches... More
