Southern Exposure - French Riviera
Feb 2019 • Couples
We set off on an adventure to Nice France in hopes of gaining a bit of southern exposure French Riviera Style. I was not prepared for the breathtaking beauty of this little part of the world.

Today’s adventure took us along the promenade which hugs the Mediterranean Sea. Though rocky, the water is an iridescent aqua blue along the shore. It is winter here in February with temps in the low 60’s and sparsely cloudy sky’s. A fine day for adventure.

After lunch at Ma Nolan’s Irish Pub, we left the port and made our way to Castle Hill. 390 steps later (Joy counted) this beautiful waterfall glistened in the mid day sun to reveal our own personal rainbow. Thanks to the kindness of strangers, and a bit of fumbling language, we managed to exchange photo shoots with other sojourners.

I discovered a bit of paradise here, and the light was spectacular.

As we made our way back down we stopped for a glass of wine at a roadside establishment called Movida as the sun slide to the west. There were no shortage of photo opportunities. In the immortal words of Lt. Pete “Maverick” Mitchell “a target rich environment.”

I completely understand why Sports Illustrated comes to places like this to shoot their calendar photos. The light for photography is astonishing!

With the last vestiges of evening light, we stumbled upon a street performer making giant bubbles with a string between two sticks. Perhaps my favorite shot of the trip so far.

With that, we will leave you for the evening with a hearty Voila, from the Mediterranean coast and the French Riviera. Au revoir!

People of color
Jul 2019 • Friends
Nice, France is not sensitive to people of color. You will experience negative energy or sense being judged in the hotels, casinos, restaurants and beach areas.

Quite Expensive
Jul 2018 • Family
Revisited after a few years only to find out that many things were not available and prices had rocketed sky high. Not impressed.

Super place to do serious "stock up" shopping
Apr 2018 • Friends
We come to Nice 3-4x per year and each time this super-store is our "go to" for just about everything.
While there are other smaller Carrefours in town, this location is huge and has everything well priced you can imagine -- prices even cheaper than their other smaller in-town shops and an extensive selection. From housewares, books, electronics, DVD's wine/beer and huge food aisles.
The one downside is purchasing too much and having to lug around on public transportation back to our apartment 2 miles away - -but it's very much worth it.
In fact, we even stock up on some extremely well priced packable options to take back to the US such as gourmet salt, biscuits and some chocolates
The location is in a HyperCenter so there's other retail options in the same complex and even a large McDonalds.
Location is a couple streets off Palais des Expositions tram stop -- just due east with at least one main entrance on Boulevard Pierre Sola@ Rue de Roquebilliere

Lovely combined visit
May 2017 • Couples
A British Airways holiday. Good flight and upgrade to a executive suite in the hotel. A enjoyable seaside resort. With great restaurants scenery and history.
We visited the market, which changes from a flower market to antiques market and food daily.
The shopping in general is more expensive, compared to the UK.
We caught the tour train around the town and up to the castle grounds. Learning about Intresting history.
In all good access to the transport links.
Would love to go again.😎

Gourmets paradise

I have been in stores all over the planet but this has gone to be one of the best if you enjoy food. I wandered around gazing at the food and beverage they have to offer. Not many stores will offer as much as Carrefour nice.

A great big store with everything!
Oct 2015 • Family
We have been shopping at this Carrefour every trip to Villefranche! We take the train to the Nice Riquier. It is a quick walk to the store. The fresh fish, cheese/sausage and meat selection is fantastic. The vegetables are fresh and constantly being refilled. Everything I need I can find there from bath soap to laundry soap and garbage bags. It is a one stop for us. Normally we go once a week for the larger items. i.e. meats and wines. The prices are much better than the smaller stores and the selection is huge! We go through the flyers to plan our meals for the week. A big help financially, Not everyone can go out every meal. Their customer card is also a big help. It is worth getting the card and it is free.
