The Boucherie St. Francois is a Nicoise favorite. Maybe there is a guide somewhere that will explain how the system works. It is the most popular boucherie we have seen in France. And the very picky clientele have their choice meat cut exactly the way...More

Unless your thing is small fish markets early in the day, nothing especially remarkable about this small square. If you need an early morning swim (but not in the sea) the city's indoor swimming pool is off here as well.

Quieter part of the Old Town with an interesting fish market. Very fresh produce and decent prices. Lovely stone tiles and architecture around and local foods such as socca (savoury chickpea pancake), salade nicoise with tuna and anchovy, pissalediere (onion, olive and anchovy pizza) were...More

This is a much larger space in the Old town and its much quieter than some of the other squares, not as much going on here as in the other squares.

Place Saint-Francois is undergoing major renovation, but when it's done there will be lovely new stone tiles, a new Museum of Nice, the fish mongers will return, and there will be space for more outdoor cafes. I'm there every day!

We visited in late April and there was still lots of construction work going on. Looks like they are laying a new pavement which will be very nice once it is finished. You can still see the lovely small fountain as you pass by.

After our walk through the Old Tow, we were sufficiently wet and cold that it was time for a glass of wine. We ran across this place by accident--it was so wet we could not pull out our phone for advice! What a pleasant surprise....More
